2GB limit patch
Hi all, I was reading the discussion about this 1.3.0pre1 release on HydrogenAudio and someone linked an old thread in which one patched FLAC 1.2.1 to support WAV-files larger then 2GB. It might be worth investigating: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/?showtopic=84014#entry725304

Adding RAM
I have a server running Centos 4.7 32bit. Will moving from 4Gig of RAM to 8Gig do any good? Since its 32bit I assume it will only be able to address the first 4Gig not? When I installed CentOS I did not do anything special to enable using more then 4Gig if thats required. Exim, spamassassin and Clamd seem to be the biggest load on this machine. My biggest bo...

FLAC frontend already has a --ignore-chunk-sizes switch, which exactly does what is needed to han...

The solution we (Xiph) have used in other projects (opusenc, oggenc) is to treat sizes...

...--resize 25000 I then used this site to help me resize the lvm: http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/2768-extending-lvm-partition-with-free-space-from-the-same-hdd-or-with-a-new-partition-from-a-new-hdd-on-centos but when I do: df -h I still see only the original 8gig disk (8gig total - 4gig data/4gig swap)). When I look at pvscan in lvm, it says 23.92GiB is the size of the volume. Why doesn't df see it correctly? Thanks, -wes

Options for >4GB setups
Hi, everyone I know that this has been asked to death on the list, and in the past few days I''ve been trying to see if there were other options for getting a xen host to use more than 4GB of RAM. I''ve tried xen-unstable x86_64 on Xeon EM64Ts as well as xen-unstable with the initial PAE support but neither got me too far from booting: the former hangs when using the supplied

swapping on centos 5.1
Hi all, I used to use centos 4.5 on an AMD 4800+ with 2GIG ram. Now I use centos 5.1 on AMD 6400+ with 4GIG RAM. The system responsiveness is different between the two. I noticed that centos 5.1 seems to be swapping programs out of memory at times resulting in slowness (perceived by me). I played with swappiness (/proc/sys/vm/) setting to 10, then 1 then 0. Still resulted in the same perceived slowness...

Version 2.2.6 and above are not able to store big files over 2GB
Hello, when I store a file biger than 2GB to a samba server version 2.2.5 everythink works fine. But when I do that with a server version 2.2.6 or 2.2.7 the saving fails on the 2GB limit. The problem can be seen with windowsclients or with smbclient (any version > 2.2.5). I did some debuging and find that the lseek64 fails. But I didn't find the reason. Regards Klaus Ethgen

I'd now like to look at the 2/4Gig off_t issue in your original support_2gb_output patch. Unlike your original patch, you will have to avoid touchng anything in the directories: include/FLAC include/FLAC++ as these are the public API headers and we don't want to change the API in this release. Asterisk on USB Flash?
Size/Speed/write cycles have gone way up, price has gone way down. More common than CompactFlash and no need for an adapter. So is it feasible to run an Asterisk server on something like this? With a MTBF of 1million write cycles coupled with dynamic wear management on a 4Gig USB drive, lifetime is a non-issue. Just wondering how well it works, if it works.

[Bug 1529] New: 32bit rollover problem rsyncing files greater than 4GB in size
...sync every night, and killing it every morning, and expected to eventually get the whole file. But much to my surprise, it never did seem to get anywhere, though when it was restarted, it seemed to be working fine. Unless the started rsync is allowed to complete the data transfer of all data past 4gig in a single run, rsync will never be able to complete this transfer. A verbose output of the start of a test rsync that makes the problem apparent follows: > rsync -avvvP --bwlimit=30 test2:bigtestfile ./ opening connection using ssh test2 rsync --server --sender -vvvlogDtpr --bwlimit=30 --par...

Install on a usb flash drive
I all, I was thinking about installing centos on a usb flash drive. Perhaps a 4GIG. I dont need X or anything on this drive so installing should fit just fine. Are there boot issues with these flash drives? I'll be using a newer motherboard so the motherboard should be able to boot USB. Does this work? Have others done anything with flash drives? I am wanting this flash...
