We only noticed it recently. so to summarize the bug: file on LIVE is 0 bytes file on BACKUP is 2 gigs on BACKUP you run: rsync -az --delete LIVE:/u/appl /u causes all files in the list before the 2gig file to update, nothing else. Of course I manually fixed the problem by deleteing the 2gig file from the backup machines and so tonights rsync should re-create the 0-byte versions and update the other files no problem, but I just wanted to log the bug. I was just wondering if there are special tricks people do that compile A LOT on centos? Do RAM disks help or something else I dont about that minimizes your compile time? I presently have and AMD x2 4800+ with 2GIG ram. Just curious if I can reduce any more time out of my compiles. Jerry

All, I have an old computer 64M 350Mhz pentium II. centos os 4.1 installs on it fine. however on boot it says low memory and it kills certain processes. httpd or sendmail. I have a 2GIG swap and I did a chkconfig XXX off on a few things like xfs, nfs, httpd, kudzu. My old 2.4 kernel used to run in 4M with a swap... Hello, when I store a file biger than 2GB to a samba server version 2.2.5 everythink works fine. But when I do that with a server version 2.2.6 or 2.2.7 the saving fails on the 2GB limit. The problem can be seen with windowsclients or with smbclient (any version > 2.2.5). I did some debuging and find that the lseek64 fails. But I didn't find the reason. Regards Klaus Ethgen

I have an R program which basically reads in data. It then calls a C program which performs numerical integration until converging to a solution. The result is then passed back from C to R.
