[PATCH] Fix PAE shadow on a machine with RAM above 4G on x86_64 xen
Fix PAE shadow on a machine with RAM above 4G on x86_64 xen.
Currently, on a machine with RAM above 4G, we can not run 32bit VMX
guest on x86_64 xen, the root cause is that the PAE page table PDPT must
below 4G, this patch fixes this issue.
Also did some cleanup.

extracting text contained in brackets ("[ ... ]") from a character string?
I have a text string that contains text within two brackets.
e.g. "testdata[3]" "testdata[-4]", "testdata[-4g]",
I wish to "extract" the string enclosed in brackets?
What is a good way to do this?
e.g.
fun(testdata[3]) = '3'
fun(testdata[-4g]) = '-4g'

VoIP over 3G/4G Data
What are the recommended settings to successfully implement VoIP over 3G/4G
data connection. Assume we are talking about using Polycom phones, and the
3G/4G data connection comes from a Cradlepoint router that is plugged in
with AC power and has high gain antennas. The device will be stationary, so
we will not have to worry about tower handoff?s breaking the connection.

Asterisk and 4G
Hello, I've started to do some research into the new 4G wireless
standard, and there's one part of the standard that intrigues me.
Apparently all data is packet based, including the phone calls. Every
phone will have its own IPv6 address. This seems to pave the way for
a call to go directly from a cell phone to a soft PBX like Asterisk....

compiling a non-pae dom0 on a dell r710 with too much ram
Hi,
I''ve got a brand spankin new dell r710 with loads of memory on it,
except that I really want it to behave more like an older machine with
only 4G of RAM. I''ve been trying to compile a dom0 without PAE for it
and can''t seem to have much success. I''ve constantly modified the
kernel config to turn off PAE and it either gets clobbered when I do a
make build-linux-2.6.18 or something. Any ideas?

Error "Data for UPS [pcmusb] is stale - check driver"
....0-rc3 is, for starters, not supported anymore by
the OpenWRT project, and is old.
The current version is OpenWRT 23.05.05
The reason you are likely getting an old version of NUT when you load
the nut package is because you are using an old version of openwrt.
Your team needs to sysupdate your 4G LTE Wifi router
You also, in my opinion, need to seriously reconsider running NUT on an
openwrt router.? The reason why is that NUT generates logfiles and
writes to the filesystem.
The flash chips that are used on routers are not designed like a USB
flash stick where they are intended to have...

3G Quality
Has anyone been able to configure Asterisk to work over 3G?
I bought Nokia Cell Phones just for that purpose and they register fine
over WiFi and 3G but the quality is just not good enough and sometimes
the call just disconnects.

[PATCH, RFC] x86/iommu: don''t map RAM holes above 4G
Matching the comment in iommu_set_dom0_mapping(), map only actual RAM
from the address range starting at 4G. It''s not clear though whether
that comment is actually correct (which is why I''m sending this as
RFC), but it is certain that on systems with sparse physical memory
map we''re currently wasting a potentially significant amount of memory
for setting up IOMMU page tables th...

poor read performance
I am seeing what seems to be a notable limit on read performance of an
ext3 filesystem. If anyone could offer some insight it would be helpful.
Background:
12 x 500G SATA disks in a Hardware RAID enclosure connected via 2Gb/s FC
to a 4 x 2.6 Ghz system with 4GB ram running RHEL4.5. Initially the
enclosure was configured RAID5 10+1 parity, although I've also tried
RAID 50 and currently RAID 0. I've varied chunk sizes from 64-256K.
Problem:
No matter what I do I cannot get the ext3 read performance above
~90MB/s. Under virtually every configurati...

memory question!
I have a question about memory. I have 8GB of RAM on a
Dell PE 1850(usb disabled kernel, cos it gets locked
up on heavy I/O). My domain0 has only 2 gigs of
memory. I have 2 guest domains 512 each. Now when i
try to create a 3rd guest domain of 512, xen wont let
me do it. My confusion is "Is 4G the max amount of
memory a domain can get/ or is 4G the max amout of
cumulative memory all the domains can get(ie. dom0,
dom1, dom2... etc..combined all together)."
can i have my domain0 have 4G ram, and at the same
time domain1 have 4 G of ram?
thanks
dmz.

More information about 4G file limit
It's not just win2k. Any windows that I
map a samba share and try to use the windows backup to backup the system to
a file will fail when
the file reaches 4G. I wrote a little test program using gcc/gnu win32 that
writes a file and it runs just fine right pas the 4G limit. Any explanation
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

You have two problems right there.
Most importantly, the most recent release of nut is 2.8.2, from April of
2024. 2.8.0 is from April of 2022. Many things have been fixed. I
personally do not engage in troubleshooting out of date code.

Rasterisk freeze on 4G link
...lo,
I'm remotely managing an asterisk setup using an OpenVPN client on this
Asterisk box, connecting to an OpenVPN server of mine).
This box is mainly connected to PSTN.
It is also connected to the Internet, only for remote management.
The former ADSL link has recently been replaced by a new 4G link (UMTS).
I'm connecting to this box from a Debian Jessie/Gnome Terminal combo.
With this new link, whenever I launch a vim, a nano or a rasterisk session,
my terminal freezes (rasterisk) or remains empty (nano, vim).
When a session is frozon, I can open a new one at the same so it exclud...

GPU passthrough issue when VM is configured with 4G memory
Hi,all
I have tried to passthrough GPU card(Nvidia quadro 4000) on the latest Xen unstable version (QEMU is using Qemu-upsteam-unstable, not traditional Qemu). This issue as below:
Windows7 64-bit guest will blue screen when GPU passthrough configure 4g memory, blue screen code is 50, and SUSE 11 64-bit guest will always stay at the grub screen. I noticed that it will relocate RAM that overlaps PCI space in pci_setup()(tools/hvmloader/pci.c). If VM memory is configured with 3G, it won''t cause relocate RAM that overlaps PCI space in pci_se...
