Prefered server hardware
What server hardware would you recommend for an Asterisk system which are really critical? The additional hardware will probably be two digium TE110P cards, and an Adit 600 platform. If it's possible to run on -48VDC, It would be great! Are there any experiences with any HP or FujitsuSiemens systems? Or other "complete server" systems? Thanks! BR Daniel Nystr?m

Why Aastra uses 48V whereas other IP Phones use much less, i.e. 5-12V
Hi, Why Aastra phones use more electricity, i.e. 48VDC whereas other phones use much less, e.g. Grandstream and Linksys both use only 5VDC. I first thought it was because of PoE, but the ones with 5VDC also run fine on PoE. What is the difference in power consumption then? -- Zeeshan A Zakaria -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachmen...

POE
Hey guys, I was wondering what POE solutions are being used ? Ive done some searching on google and found that PowerDsine seems to be good brand. Any comments, suggestions, and experiences on POE hubs other POE products would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve Maroney

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch (or hub); product idea
...les and connects each (now vacant) port of the existing switch to the "inputs" of the POEI. The POEI simply connects the four ethernet signals on each of its "inputs" (pins 1,2,3,6 on each) to the same pins on its corresponding "outputs". Additionally, it supplies -48VDC (maybe selectable if there are other voltage needs) on the appropriate pins (also maybe selectable if different vendors use different wiring conventions for POE) of its "outputs". This could be an inexpensive way to provide POE without having to replace all of one's switches. Add...

Tweaking AGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR
Using TDM400's here and I have tried everything to cure the echo. I have used the Milliwatt test from the telco and from asterisk to tune RX/TX gain via a patched ztmonitor. What happens is I experience midcall echo. I turned on aggressive_suppressor and it seems to do great. The problem happens with misc. noise around the office will cause it to mute the other end of a phone call while

Looking for new hardware
Hi. I gave up with the IBM NetFinity, so I'm going to buy new hardware. I'm going to install: 1-)One X100P (1 FXO module) 2-)One TDM03B (3 FXO modules) I'll have the 4 FXO channels busy almost all the time, and I would like quality to be as good as possible without going to the high-level hardware. I would like to learn of some tested configurations (I've heard of problems

Polycom 501 power over ethernet
When I bought two Polycom 501 SIP phones, I naively thought they were Power-over-Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) because they were "powered over ethernet." Silly me. Polycom must have some odd voltage or funny way of injecting the power, because the POE switch I bought for them (Netgear F@510P) won't power them, though if I use the Polycom-supplied AC adapter and ethernet power

Help 60Hz Hum?
Hey guys, I am trying to diagnose a hum in my FXO lines I am using an Adtran 750 with 8 FXO ports. I am getting a pretty bad hum on the line during a call. I have checked the Telco side of the 66 block and there is no hum there so it's my problem to fix. I have tried to lower the gain but that reduces the call volume to much. Where else should I be looking? Setup as follows Dell

The unit spec designates it as a 208V input, and from looking at what we have in the server room, the battery is a 48VDC power source. Tripp Lite SU5000RT3U
Hi, I am trying to configure my Tripp Lite SU5000RT3U on Ubuntu 18.04 as I am not able to completely get all the data from the UPS. After installing all required packages from the Ubuntu repos (had to run sudo apt-get install dkms, I had to install the displaylink drivers from displaylink.org by doing sudo ./displaylink-driver-4.2.29.run, and I created a sim link by doing the following: sudo ln

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

how do I make my headset work
How do I make my headset work. Before I try it with anything else, I'd like to make it work with arecord and aplay. ZFS, power failures, and UPSes
Hello, I''ve looked around Google and the zfs-discuss archives but have not been able to find a good answer to this question (and the related questions that follow it): How well does ZFS handle unexpected power failures? (e.g. environmental power failures, power supply dying, etc.) Does it consistently gracefully recover? Should having a UPS be considered a (strong) recommendation or

Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch recommendations
Hi listers, I am looking for people who have used Power over Ethernet switches, primarily in conjunction with Polycom IP 501's. I've been looking at the Linksys SRW224P, since I've had good luck with the SRW224 in our office. However, Nortel, Cisco, Adtran, etc. all have an offering, all of which vary in price. I would appreciate any input people have to offer. Thanks, James

Busy out a zap channel?
Is there a way to busy out a Zap channel? I have a customer who is having problems with a line connected to a TDM800 card and we would like to busy out that line. Since that line is the head of the hunt group I cannot simply disable that channel, I need to busy the line so calls will come over the other lines. -- ?Telecomunicaciones Abiertas de M?xico S.A. de C.V. Is Asterisk really good??
So this is just a general question, Is Asterisk really good? Reliability? Functionality? Customization's? I am coming from a Nortel world, were you pay for everything, and you can't delve into the software. But it seems that customization would be a great thing. Like, setting up a war-dialer to customer lists, incoming/outgoing faxes (that's possible with Asterisk, right?) and
