AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
...bitrates. 24kbps > aacplus even kicks ass in my view. Is that 24kbps AACPLUS a full 44.1kHz stereo signal with frequencies preserved up to at least 15kHz? (Just curious, not criticising.) As a datapoint, Vorbis aotuv b4 gives acceptable quality with q=-1.001 44.1kHz stereo at approximately 44kbps. -- Paul Martin <pm@zetnet.net> (work) <pm@nowster.zetnet.co.uk> (home)

constant low-bitrate for streaming test
dear vorbis developers, it would be very useful, if oggenc would support constant low-bandwith bitrates for testing. something from 20kbps to 44kbps, so anyone could test streaming over modem and isdn. audio quality doesn't matter. mörk --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing...

Icecast is cool, but how about video?
...reconfigure the client, they also send statistical data to Real that should stay private. I'm talking about free as in freedom, not as in "free beer". Apart from that, Real's software is a nuisance to use. It DOES perform well technically, e.g. in terms of quality at low bitrates (44kbps sounds almost as good as Vorbis' 48kbps ABR), but it's ressource hungry and not trustworthy, too. I wouldn't install and run any server that I (and everyone else) don't know about what it actually does, for both security and privacy reasons. I don't trust Real just like I don...

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
I'm am currently using autuvb4 at q-2 mono 44100. This produces roughly 28 to 34kb/s. It's ok but I've heard AACPlus at 32kb/s stereo and it's definately better, unfortunately. There don't even exist any players for it except from Real ... i can't think of anything less free than that. :| I suggest ditching all that crap and to
