Transcode from AAC to MP3 (or vice versa)
Hi
To continue the interesting streamTranscode thread but in a slightly
different direction, I have a user station that would like to send us
a 64kbps AAC stream and have us transcode that to 64kbps MP3 and
32kbps AAC - is this possible?
Points to consider:
a) we would be happy to go with another permutation such as: she sends
us 64kbps MP3 and we convert that to 64kbps AAC and 32kbps ACC.
b) this AAC patch is undoubtedly going to be useful:...

mp3pro bitrates
Sort of off topic, but I was wondering about how the SBR data factors into
an mp3pro bitrate. If you encode a "64kbps" mp3pro stream, I'm guessing
that 64kbps would include the SBR data. So, when played in a normal MP3
player, would a 64kbps mp3pro stream actually sound worse than a 64kbps
MP3 stream?

HTB problem
Hello,
I''m having some problems using HTB to prioritize traffic on my linux router.
The main problem is as follows:
I have a 6Mbits channel on the metropolitan network and a 64kbps link
for the sites outside my country.
These 64kbps are dynamically allocated by my ISP so I usually get
something like 128kbps , sometimes 512kbps and even 1 Mbit; it varies
all the time.
Because of this I don''t know how to automatically adjust my HTB script
depending on the total b...

HTB shares equally when borrowing enabled :(
Hi,
I''m fighting seriously with a most simple HTB setup. I''d like to share
the incoming 64kbps into 5 and 59 for two different machines under NAT.
HTB seems to hold the required limits when ceil is not set (no
borrowing), but when borrowing enabled it seems to share equally rather
then keeping the specified ratio.
My setup is below. A typical output of "tc -s -d qdisc show dev eth1&...

Simple case here!
Hi All,
I want to setup a machine to connect to internet at a limited rate of 64
kbps.
That machine is connected to a switch. so my LAN and Internet both comes
from the same eth0.
How can I limit only the internet access from this machine to 64kbps and
still using 100mbps for LAN
I am trying to implement this Please guide me If i am wrong.
I mark all the packets going out to LAN.
Then I can setup a root qdisc to classify packets based on that mark. If
match then I can setup a class to accept those setup a fifo for those
packets. but if t...

How can I get min 64kbps max 128kbps bandwidth
Hi all
I have read the lartc manual, I have read the some faqs but still don''t
know how to achive the following:
I have a 512kbps line which I share with 8 customers.
Now what I have is everyone gets max 64kbps. That''s fine.
DEV=ath0
DEV_MAX_RATE=6mbit
DEV_RAT_LOW=64kbit
DEV_RATE_HIGH=128kbit
tc qdisc del dev $DEV root
tc qdisc add dev $DEV root handle 1: cbq avpkt 1000 bandwidth
$DEV_MAX_RATE cell 8 mpu 64

Vorbis rate and bitrate.
Hi
I want to encode at 64kbps at a 22050 rate ... this is not possible ... why?
For me it seems a waste of cpu to encode at 64kbps with 44100 sample
rate (of course I might be wrong :).
I saw in the vorbisenc.c that aprox_bitrate_to_vbr returns -1 to every
sample rate that is not > 42000 ... is this safe to change ?
Thank...

cpu usage for ices and oggenc
I'm running ices-kh to stream from jack at 64kbps, and also using oggenc
(with ecasound via jack) to record the audio to disk at the same time.
This is also running at 64kbps.
ices is using virtually no cpu (0.0%), but oggenc is using 15-16%. I can't
see why there should be such a difference - both are recording the same

new ogg stream
Thomas was gracious enough to provide a second stream of his beats.dk
vorbis broadcast.
http://vorbis.arkena.com:8004/test.ogg is 128kbps
http://vorbis.arkena.com:8004/test_64.ogg is 64kbps
Now even us lowspeed dsl people can enjoy :)
Everyone should give a listen to the 64kbps and see what they think of
the quality (it's being reencoded from 128kbsp Ogg).

...andles multiple
clients. Haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.
Could someone please explain (or direct me to links) what happens to the
upload bandwidth of a box running icecast, when more than one client
connects? For example, if a box on a 128kbps upload connection is
serving a 64Kbps stream (and not audio-on-demand) - is it limited to two
connections or is icecast somehow more efficient?
cheers,
Iain

TCNG HTB priority and bandwidth
Hi,
I have several users on the lanside each allocated separate IP addresses.
I need to allocate th traffic to each IP addresses certain portion of
total uplink.
Say, 192.168.0.2 rate 128kbps, ceil 128kbps.
192.168.0.3 rate 65kbps, ceil 128kbps
129.168.0.4 rate 64kbps, ceil 64kbps.
and so on....
Also, for each user i would like to prioritize the traffic within the
allocated bandwidth.
say for (192.168.0.2 rate 128kbps, ceil128kbps), i would like to set prio
1 for http or https traffic and prio 2 for others.
Please suggest how do i achieve this using tcng and...

throtling bandwidth
Hi,
My branch office as got a 256Kbps b/w from their service provider at a
very very high rate per Mb. They don''t require 256Kbps at all but the
ISP does not offer anything low. Can we restrict the bandwith to say
64Kbps nothing fancy? How do I go about it?
With warm regards,

celtclient 64kbps more than expected
Hi,
The default settings for celtclient are:-
Sampling rate 48000
Frame size 256
Packet size 43
According to my calculations this should give a bitrate of 64kbit/sec +
a little extra for the 32bit time stamp and 4 null byte pseudo header.
Using vnstat I was very surprised to see that it was reporting a bitrate
usage of around 16kbyte/sec which is 128kbit/sec, double what I was
expecting.

[new?] Streaming technique
Hi,
I have a newbie question, and a not-so-newbie one. I've just found
out about Ogg, and I haven't been able to find a clear answer in
the many webpages this proyect has (btw, why not create just one
site instead of vorbis.com, ogg-vorbis.com...).
The question is, does Ogg use perceptual coding, like mp3 does? And
if so, would it be possible to build an encoder in such a way as

vorbis quality - quality scale vs bitrate
Hi there,
I'm using libvorbis in my program and need to encode to target bitrate. I
know libvorbis prefer to use quality scale but I can't use it.
I've found something at faq http://vorbis.com/faq/#quality
*For now, quality 0 is roughly equivalent to 64kbps average, 5 is roughly
160kbps, and 10 gives about 400kbps. Most people seeking
very-near-CD-quality audio encode at a quality of 5 or, for lossless stereo
coupling, 6. The default setting is quality 3, which at approximately
110kbps gives a smaller filesize and significantly better fidelity than
.m...

Realtime encoding at 44.1khz
...stream it. Ostream looked the
more promising of the two, with breaks in the audio but otherwise coping OK
... until it crashed, presumably because it filled some buffer somewhere.
It can maintain a 44.1khz mono stream at lowest bitrate (aprox. 40kbps) but
only just. I only tried oddcast once, at 64kbps stereo. It sounded very
weird, as if it was only recording half the data in a given time period.
It sounded as if it was playing at about double speed but wasn't pitch
shifted.
What I want to know is this. Am I expecting too much of my P2-266 to do
44.1khz 64kbps stereo in real-time? Assumi...

Icecast Auto DJ
Hello,
I’ve a question. I have a station now with Shoutcast and shoutcast transcoder for 2 bitrates. 192kbps mp3 and 64 kbps aac+.
I want to transfer these to Icecast. I’ve an working icecast server but i need an auto dj that can encode 2 bitrates, 192kbps mp3 and 64kbps aac.
I had a working setup, but my nonstop machine is not on the icecast server but externally. Now in shoutcast transcoder i can give the live dj a priority of 2, and the nonstop machine a priority of 1, so djs can login over the nonstop.
Who can help me and can tell me the working setup of icec...
