Just an interesting data point
SO, my full load on my core UPS is two Dell R610s, one Sun X4540, one HP DL360p gen8, two six-core Thuban-II workstations plua their monitors, and the network stack and KVM. The APC SU3000RM (3KVA) that blew up last week considered this to be just short of 60% load. The new Cyberpower PR3000 (also 3KVA), wqhich operates at a 90% power factor, considers this same load to be 43% load. I wasn't expecting that much of a reduction. I have the snmp-ups driver working with it, have not enable...

nutdrv_qx - Device not supported
Hi I have the RCT 3KVA Axpert solar hybrid inverter. It is also known as the MPP Solar PIP-MS series, the IPS-4000WM and the Voltronic Axpert MKS. I am trying to monitor the inverter using NUT on a Raspberry Pi (I have tried Ubuntu as well with the same results). I have tried most of the drivers with no success. The...

Advice on small office UPS
...stems like : Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD Smart-UPS XL 2200VA Smart-UPS 3000VA LCD. This includes adding the 2 extra servers I list above (Dell PE1800 and the HP). The Eaton UPS selector is very similar but seems to be suggesting quite different, larger, more expensive UPS systems like : Eaton 9170plus 3kVA HW Not only larger, but quite a bit more expensive. The Eaton 5PX 2200IRT seemed to be (roughly) equivalent to the Smart-UPS 2200VA, but without the experience or knowledge of this area, I don't know and the different results suggested by the tools would concern me. Any advice or thoughts o...

Adding drivers to NUT?
...Keor PDU is a commercial name for a Rack UPS, in the USB_DEVICE() macro I tried to add a small description, I don't know if it's enough for you, what kind of comment would you like? > > Regarding nutdrv_qx the only VID:PID combo is for one family: "Legrand Daker DK+ 1kVA / 2kVA / 3kVA / 5kVA / 6kVA / 10kVA". Masterguard UPS A3000
...rcuit fails, then likely both will fail at the same time, since both come from the same powerline. 4) Taking cost into consideration, and current load requirements, I'm guessing that option A would provide a longer time on battery than any other solution? Considering that each of the current 3kVA UPS are each running at 1/6 load (ie, 16%, or 33% if both racks on the same 3kVA UPS) Which would you suggest as the best option? Other brands/models/etc? Any other advice? Thank you for your time and any advice. Regards, Adam -- Adam Goryachev Website Managers www.websitemanagers.com.au

APC Smart UPS 3000 LCD & Eaton Evolution S 3000
We're looking at supplementing our Belkin Regulator Pro 1400 with a 2nd UPS, and were contemplating the APC's 3kVA Smart UPS LCD. We'd still be using either our existing FreeBSD box or a CentOS box to control the UPS. I was just wondering if anyone's got much experience with using these with NUT. From the NUT compatibility guide, it says it uses the usb-hid driver. It also just dawned upon me to lo...

Off Topic: UPS units and heat generation
Hi all A slightly off topic post, but one that I think someone out there in the NUT community could probably help me with. Summer is coming, and my office at home is getting hot... helped in part by the APC 3KVA UPS I have sitting under my desk. It kicks out heat like a bar-heater, even when there is almost no load on it (idle load is one PC, one switch, one wireless AP, and thats it). It is very warm to the touch, and just gets worse when I turn on the rest of the kit (tape autoloader, TFTs, CRTs, two...

Well, now that the `subdriver` option got added to `usbhid-ups` too, you can at least try that (by building again the current master). See command-line help for the subdrivers it would currently recognize, and copy e.g. the first word as the matching option, e.g.: ./drivers/usbhid-ups -DDDDDD -d1 -s test -x port=auto -x vendorid=... -x productid=... -x subdriver=... and try to lockpick your

Problem with blazer_ser/megatec when upgrading to 2.6.0 from 2.4
Hello First things first, thanks for great work with NUT. For years I used Informer compact 3kVA UPS http://www.informups.com/informer_compact.html with nut/megatec serial driver, but it stopped working when I switched to blazer_ser with 2.6.0 upgrade. I'm using 2.6.0 on gentoo. Blazer_ser seems to connect with UPS, but upsmon reports driver not connected. uname -a Linux localhost 2.6.36...

Adding drivers to NUT?
Dear Daniele, nice to meet you, I'm a collegue of Gabriele. The problem with "blazer_usb" driver ("blazer_ser" works correctly) is related to the following commands: - "F" and "I": when the KRAULER subdriver check these UPS answers it uses wrong constants to check the lenght of the received packets, so these commands are considered as "not

Asking hard questions about the NUT architecture
I've spent the better part of two working days reading the NUT code and documentation and thinking about typical modern use cases for the software. I'm now questioning whether I want to get any further involved with this project, because it seems to me that the codebase is a huge and complicated pile of machinery mainly aimed at solving problems that no longer matter. I could be wrong
