smbd error
Hi, I have several samba file servers all running on fully upgraded CentOS-5.8 boxes. They run samba3x-3.5.10-0.108.el5_8.x86_64. After the most recent upgrade I'm seeing the following error in the logs but only on one of the boxes. Apr 23 18:51:19 oldcrescent smbd[3892]: Could not find child 15487 -- ignoring It occurs every 13 minutes with a different PID it doesn't seem to affect samba at least the users haven't complained, but this particular server is a very lightly used one. Any ideas, Regards, Tony

OpenSSH on SunOS 4
I'm trying to update an ssh 1.2.27 to OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 and am running into a problem. I've successfully built zlib 1.1.4, OpenSSL 0.9.6c, and tcp_wrappers , but when I attempt to run configure, I get the error about the missing posix regex. So I attempted to download and use pcre (the Perl hack to expose perl regex to posix. But I can't build that since it calls strtoul() (string to

Hello, I have tried to install openssh 2.9p2 on Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 2.8 after compiling the openssl (both 0.9.6a and 0.9.6b) and openssh software with both gcc 2.95.3, Sun's Forte compiler, Sun's linker, etc. I have tried the zlib from Sun freeware and version 11.8.0 REV=2000.01.08.18.12 contained in the SUNWzlib package. Both openssh and openssl appear to make properly and all the

Problem printing from NT to printer attached to LInux box
I installed Samba 2.2.2 on my Linux box. The smb.conf file is as shown below. The permission on /var/spool/lpd/lp is set to 755; ie, it is writable only by the owner, which is lp. With the setup as is, when I try to print from the NT machine, the smb log on the Linux box indicates the following error: " print_job_start: insufficient permissions to open spool file /var/spool/lpd/lp". creating /etc/tinc directories in make install
Hi, I am curious why don't you guys create /etc/tinc directory, set permissions, add /etc/rc.d scripts etc. from the Makefile(s) in the source distribution ? Doing a make install and not finding an example config in /etc/tinc is kind of frustrating. Am I missing something? Maybe there is a good reason for that? Also, why is it not finding evp.h when I try to do configure? Is creating

sendmail not sending after reboot
HI folks, I've an up-to-date CentOS 5.x box on a small intranet (<20 users). We did a reboot over the weekend and all appears well except that clients on the LAN can no longer send email. Just hangs/times out. No clear identifiers in the /var/log/maillog or /var/log/messages. We're not setup for ESMTP as it's a closed network and I'm really hoping for a kickstart as to

Interrupt levels
I''m tracking performance on the machine I installed yesterday. mutt running on one Xen instance, accessing via imap to another instance, accessing via nfs the maildir in another instances, seems little laggy when moving up and down the message index list. Network latency seems low < 30ms on average. So I was tracking vmstat. On the mutt instances is seems reasonable: [nic@shell:~]

Network stops responding after some time
Hi there, I''m using the Suse Enterprise 10 RC2 along with Xen 3.0.2 on X86-64 and I''m experiencing a problem with the network. I boot into the Xen kernel and everything works just fine. I can browse the net etc. However after a while the network stops responding completely. I am not sure what causes this to happen or what triggers it. After a few hours, the network just stops
