How does Vonage support fax machines?
...n ILEC, usually more expensive, and when they sell a "Fax Line" I noticed it's more expensive. Maybe they route all their fax calls specifically out these high quality T1's that they own, so that they can do some type of quality control. My test lab was a private network, a Cisco 3640 connected to a local voice PRI T1, and converting to SIP. Asterisk would push the calls to the Cisco 3640 and the Linksys PAP2 would register with Asterisk. All local. I then tried several test faxes throughout the PSTN. Would it be better to plug the voice T1 straight into Asterisk using one of Di...

Cisco QoS Howto
...t me to some sample Cisco QoS configurations suitable for IAX2? I've looked through Cisco's site, and get overwhelmed with the level of documentation (too much of a good thing). My PSTN gateway and PBX (both *) are connected via 2xT1 (per-packet load balancing) between a Cisco 7206 and a 3640. When the total bandwidth pushes much past 50%, I start getting some crazy distrotion (jitter?), making it impossible for one or both parties to understand the other. Modem support via Cisco FXS ports?
I need to do some modem testing at work, just to make sure that I can dial into an emergency serial console modem before I put it into a box and ship it. Unfortunately, we don't have easy access to a pair of POTS lines in the office right now. Looking around the test lab, we have a Cisco 3640 with a 2FXS VIC in it. I can plug my laptop's modem into one FXS port, and plug the serial console modem into the other, and then set up Asterisk to relay calls between the two ports using SIP. Before I spend a few hours setting up a test asterisk server in the office and monkeying with S...

Does Asterisk support T1 E&M Wink/Wink voice channels on any Digium/Sangoma hardware?
...Sangoma T1 card to any other PBX/gateway using T1 E&M Wink/Wink signaling? I'm trying to connect Avaya Definity to an Asterisk box with T100P and so far no luck. (I know I can do so with ISDN PRI, but need an additional ISDN processor card for Definity.) I tried to connect Definity to Cisco 3640 CCME (call manager express) to test the link and all settings and it connects just fine with E&M Wink/Wink. I just wanted to know that it is possible... is it? So far, I found only this as a guide: http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/em.html Thanks a lot, Dmitry.
