Repo conversion progress report
...at are legal but...perverse. That was mostly in the
early history; it get a lot cleaner after the switchover from CVS.
Another was scale. I had a couple of nominally working
implementations that were unusable because they grovelled for hours
before producing results. But the full translation of 33K commits is
now down to 117 seconds on a bog-standard 2.66Ghz dual-core Intel box.
I'm not done yet. Now I get to go over the converted repo with a
fine-tooth comb, looking for Subversion metadata that could be
converted more intelligently. There might be more coding to do.
Then, I will sti...

Based on the OddCastDSP status screen, I'm getting averages of around
30k in mono, about 42k in stereo. 30k is likely too high for 33.6
modems but don't most people use 56k modems these days? Most
connections are around 48k I believe.

sunflower plot, making vectors?
I'm having a bit of trouble finding and understanding the correct function to
make numeric vectors to feed the sunflowerplot function. I have 33k points
to show and I want to do better than the standard scatter plot.
I gather that I need two vectors (x and y) of the same count containing the
"center" value of each bin.
FYI - I have two pieces of data:
1 - x axis - time in days of the year from 0 to 363.98
2 - y axis - power in kW...

How to properly read "zpool iostat -v" ? ;)
Hello experts,
I''ve had a lingering question for some time: when I
use "zpool iostat -v" the values do not quite sum up.
In the example below with a raidz2 array made of 6
drives:
* the reported 33K of writes are less than two disks''
workload at this time (at 17.9K each), overall
disks writes are 107.4K = 325% of 33K.
* write ops sum up to 18 = 225% of 8 ops to the pool;
* read MB on dirves is 66.2M = 190% of 34.8M read
from pool;
* read ops on drives sum up to 2014, but pool...

problem saving gplot.hexbin using file save as pdf - "Error: invalid graphics state
...as pdf and I have to restart R.
This happens when I add mtext lines.
There are a few other questions e.g. I want to move the mtext on side 1 to
the left, but that is the main issue for now.
I'm not using the ylab inside gplot.hexbin because it writes over the
numbers on the axis.
The file is 33k records but I could get a subset and paste in here if
people need that to resolve the issue.
the code
par(oma=c(3,3.5,3,1))
par(mar=c(2, 4, 0, 0))
plot.new()
gplot.hexbin(h, style = "colorscale",
colramp = function(n) {LinGray(7, beg=92, end=1)},
colorcut = 8,
xlab = "&quo...

a few questions about relaying
Hi there list,
I have a few questions here. First of all, can I relay an mp3 shoutcast
relay even though I am using ices2 for the ogg format? Secondly, if the
first question is a yes how would I set my server to be used for dialup
streams. In other words I would have to decrease the bit rate to
accomodate the dial up users. Could this be done with out causing any
hard ships to what I already

Fixtures Max Size? SystemStackError: stack level too deep
Hello,
I have a table of zipcodes that I am using in my application, so there
are approximately 50,000 rows in this table. I have dumped the table to
a fixture yaml file to represent this data, but when I try to load it, I
get this error: SystemStackError: stack level too deep
Is there a max size allowed for a fixture file..?
Here is the --trace output:
rake db:fixtures:load --trace

mocha tarballs don''t uncompress cleanly
Hi Antonio,
My environment is OS X 10.4.8.
Thanks a lot for looking into the problem. Please let me know if I
can do anything to help.
I have had problems previously with tar including Mac resource fork
files. Could this be what is causing your problem?
James.

RE: Audio broadcasting... (fwd)
Hi vorbis dudes,
I've been trying to encourage vorbis use for a somewhat well known person
who is doing a weekly internet "radio" program. I guess they are finding
out that WMA isnt too cross platform :-)
Was wondering if someone could help out with these questions...
The encoding platform is windows...
Is vorbis suitable for 33.6k/56k streaming yet?
Would be a good opportunity

[PATCH 2.6] update to network emulation QOS scheduler
This patch updates the network emulation packet scheduler.
* name changed from delay to netem since it does more than just delay
* Catalin''s merged code to do packet reordering
* uses a socket queue''s directly rather than layering on qdisc(fifo)
because this is used in performance tests.
* adds placeholder in API for future enhancements (rate and duplicate).
