Cannot startup IA32/IA32pae VMX domain on IA32e platform
We cannot startup IA32/IA32pae unmodified linux guest OS. Booting 32bit VMX domain will stop at printing "ACPI: Unable to locate RSDP". Booting 32pae VMX domain will get a kernel panic. No abnormal info found in serial output. It''s interesting that sometime we can boot Windows 2003. Booting Windows SP1/SP2 Gu...

Several issues in ChangeSet 10319
We found several issues in ChangeSet 10319. ChangeSet 10314 should work according to our test log. 1, xen0 can not be compiled for IA-32/IA-32pae host since ChangeSet 10318. We tried gcc 3.4.2 and 4.1.0 but both failed. 2. On IA32e host, VMX can not be created. "xm cr" complains: Error: Not an HVM capable platform, we stop creating. 3, On IA32e host, "reboot" can not work on Xen0 Linux. We have to hard reset. Ser...

[PATCH - proposed] XI Shadow Page Table Mechanism
...;XI Shadow Mechanism" is a design for shadow page table code for fully virtualized HVM domains running on a 64-bit Xen hypervisor. This work was undertaken to address a number of goals. These are enumerated in the document posted last week and include: - ability to run fully virtualized 32, 32PAE and 64 bit guest domains concurrently on a 64-bit hypervisor - start support of live migration of fully virtualized domains - provide good performance and robustness - limit size and scope of change to Xen hypervisor This design has been coded, and tested on a variety of operating systems. I...

Quest for a better FAQ
I''m working on making a better xen faq. Hopefully I can use it to replace the one we now have on the wiki. I''d love to know what people think really are the most frequently asked questions? I''m going to paw through the mountains of data that is the xen-users archive and see what I see. That should be interesting, but probably not as useful as your opinions.

Debian/Xen usage summary
Hello, I just setup a few virtual systems, and I came into some limitations using XEN. I''d like to share these, just to know if the limitations are in the system or in the user :) I am using a standard Debian 4.0 (etch) GNU/Linux distribiution. The system is an Intel Core 2 duo with virtualization inside. I use the amd64 flavour. Thus my kernel is

Using VT-D to grant a Windows DomU access to a PCI Express graphics card?
I''ve also been trying to get hardware-accelerate Direct3D to work in a (Windows) DomU via VT-D. I''ve got a PCI NIC passing through fine, but not a graphics carrd. The points below describe where I''m at and what is happening. I''d appreciate any help anyone could offer, and also I have these specific questions: Is PCI Express supported by VT-D and/or
