CentOS 5.4 x86_64 only detects 32GB RAM while Fedora x86_64 correctly lists 128GB
Hi, We have a new 24-core Dell PowerEdge R905 server with 128GB's RAM. The 64 bits version of Fedora 12 lists the correct amount of 128GB, CentOS only finds 32GB (and so does Scientific Linux). I would much prefer to use CentOS (most of the software we use is specifically designed for CentOS). Does anyone know what is causing this/how to fix it? Many Thanks, Diederick -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http...

RHEL 5.2 Xen Kernel doesn''t detect all amount of physical memory
...RHEL 5.2 x86_64 with respect to the maximum amount of RAM detected by the Xen 64 bit kernel (the one that shipped with Red Hat distribution ) In the following link https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-5-manual/en-US/RHEL510/Virtualization_Guide/ch-virt-hw-support.html it states that 32GB of RAM is the maximum amount of physical memory the Xen kernel can detect. Is it still the updated status ? Is there a work around or any other way to overcome this limit ? Any info would be appreciated Thanks, Ido _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-use...

re: 120 GB larger hard disk
Hi, I donĀ“t think that this is a ext3 Problem, since you have problems partitioning that disk. Perhaps a hdparm -i /dev/hdX could shine some light on this, also a fdisk -l /dev/hdX could be useful. For now - let me guess: <guess> To me, it seems, that the disk is clipped to 32GB, perhaps the mainboard bios can not cope with a disk >32GB - just a thought. Since the manufactorer knows that every customer would be angry having a crippled disk, he *might* have installed a vendor software to enlarge the disk to the real size. This runs fine under windows, but in no-way u...

Boot 32GB Multi-partition Flash as USB-ZIP
I have a Pentium 4 machine that does not boot from my 32GB SanDisk Cruzer. Its first partition is 24GB and FAT32, to serve as cross-platform storage. There is a second partition of 7GB in EXT2 which is bootable and contains a Linux system armed with syslinux (extlinux). This works fine booting off of recent laptops and desktops alike. This particular desk...

RHEL 5.2 i386 image - Xen kernel doesn''t recognize the total amount of system memory
Hello, We have installed RHEL 5.2 Server ( i386 image ) on a machine with 64GB of RAM. When booting the default PAE kernel ( 2.6.18-92.el5PAE ) that is shipped with RHEL 5.2 installation the OS detects 64GB of RAM. But when booting the Xen kernel ( 2.6.18-92.el5xen ) the OS detects only 14GB of the total amount of available RAM. Did anyone encounter this problem before ? Is it a normal

SYSLINUX fails to boot from Kingston DT Micro 3.1 64GB
...) and found my existing SYSLINUX 6.02 fails to load on it, it just shows the version info and hangs forever. I've tried 6.03 as well as the latest git revision (currently 5483860), they both give me "Failed to load ldlinux.c32" The same builds and config work on my Kingston DT 101 G3 32GB. Both are formatted as NTFS Any suggestions? Or anything I can do to help debug this? Thanks

[BUG] Xen/Linux selfdescruction after not finding i8042 aux with 32GB of RAM
Currently the work around seems to be to add i8042.noaux to the kernel command line. If someone wants to investigate, please do so. As secondary problem I think it would be wise to put a big f*cking warning that Xen + Linux + GCC 4.2+ is one big problem. what is zfs doing during a log resilver?
So, when you add a log device to a pool, it initiates a resilver. What is it actually doing, though? Isn''t the slog a copy of the in-memory intent log? Wouldn''t it just simply replicate the data that''s in the other log, checked against what''s in RAM? And presumably there isn''t that much data in the slog so there isn''t that much to check? Or

Do I need a dedicated firewall?
Hi All, So my electricity bill is through the roof and I need to pair down some equipment. I have a CentOS 6.5 Server (a few TB, 32gb RAM) running some simple web stuff and Zimbra. I have 5 static IP's from Comcast. I am considering giving this server a public IP and plugging it directly into my cable modem. This box can handle everything with room for me to do more. Doing this would allow me to power down my pfSense box and...

Possible bug with latest 7.3 installer, md RAID1, and SATADOM.
I'm seeing a problem that I think maybe a bug with the mdraid software on the latest CentOS installer. I have a couple of new supermicro servers and each system has two innodisk 32GB SATADOM's that are experiencing the same issue. I used the latest CentOS-7-x86_64-1611 to install to the two SATADOM's a simple RAID1 for the root. The install goes just fine but when I boot off the new install I see one of two behaviours. It either hangs at boot, or boots fine but I start...

Questions regarding journal replay
Today, I had to uncleanly shutdown one of our machines due to an error in 2.6.28.3. Durin the boot sequence, the ext4 partition /home experienced a journal replay. /home looks like this: /dev/mapper/volg1-logv1 on /home type ext4 (rw,noexec,nodev,noatime,errors=remount-ro) Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/volg1-logv1 2,4T 1,4T 1022G 58% /home Filesystem

dedicated ZIL/L2ARC
We are looking into the possibility of adding a dedicated ZIL and/or L2ARC devices to our pool. We are looking into getting 4 ? 32GB Intel X25-E SSD drives. Would this be a good solution to slow write speeds? We are currently sharing out different slices of the pool to windows servers using comstar and fibrechannel. We are currently getting around 300MB/sec performance with 70-100% disk busy. Opensolaris snv_134 Dual 3.2GHz qu...

hardware issues and new server advice
...io. we also previously had issues with the load created by raid resync so we are considering to skip raid alltogether and rely on gluster replication instead. (by compensating with three replicas per brick instead of two) our options are: 6 of these: AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 3600 - 6c/12t - 3.6GHz/4.2GHz 32GB - 128GB RAM 4 or 6 ? 6TB HDD SATA 6Gbit/s or three of these: AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 3700 - 8c/16t - 3.6GHz/4.4GHz 32GB - 128GB RAM 6? 14TB HDD SAS 6Gbit/s i would configure 5 bricks on each server (leaving one disk as a hot spare) the engineers prefer the second option due to the architecture and SAS...
