Which Linux flavor for a Rails server?
Hi folks,
I''m a linux noob, and I''m trying to pick a distro for my rails server. I
don''t want to start a flame-war about linux distros! I''m interested in the
best distribution for these criteria:
1 - Simplicity of getting ruby and rails set-up (gem updates)
2 - Stability (it is a server, after all)
3 - Support resources (community, and as a fall-back, paid

Debian way of compiling zaptel kernel modules
I ran "apt-get -b source zaptel-source" to download and compile the zaptel
source.
It successfully compiles and builds the following packages:
libtonezone-dev_1.0.2-2_i386.deb
libtonezone1_1.0.2-2_i386.deb
zaptel-source_1.0.2-2_all.deb
zaptel_1.0.2-2_i386.deb
None of them contain the kernel modules.
Is there a way I can get it to compile the kernel modules?
Thanks,
Geoff

Debian Bug Tracking System writes:

The Debian project ( http://www.debian.org/ ) now provides speex
packages. Users tracking the unstable development distribution
(sid) can now 'apt-get install speex' to fetch and provide the
speexenc and speexdec applications. Hopefully in about 10 days the
speex packages will transition

debian packages at download samba are broken
Just thought I bring attention to the state of the debian packages at
http://download.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/ the
samba_3.0.1-2_i386.deb and samba-common_3.0.1-2_i386.deb have errors
associated with the packaging of the debs. An underscore seems to have
found it's way into the template definitions eg. _Description: and
generates an error as an unkown symbol when installing.

Since release 150, udev requires that support for the CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED

Puppet 25.1 + stored configuration (with sqlite) + augeas on Ubuntu 9.04 or 8.04
...with a little different database-related error.
On client I just installed facter_1.5.6-3_all.deb,
puppet_0.25.1-2_all.deb and libxml-simple-ruby_1.0.12-1_all.deb (to
get rid off the warning messages).
On server I installed the same plus puppetmaster_0.25.1-2_all.deb and
libsqlite3-ruby1.8_1.2.4-2_i386.deb with libsqlite3-
ruby1.9_1.2.4-2_i386.deb, because of what I read on
http://projects.reductivelabs.com/issues/2815.
I turned on storedconfigs on server, and after successful certificate
negotiation I got the following errors:

Debian package for R-0.61 uploaded
I have uploaded a Debian package r-base_0.61.0-2_i386.deb to the
incoming directory at ftp.ci.tuwien.ac.at. This package is built
against libc5, not libc6. Turns out that was a bit more complicated
than I had hoped.
I have also created an RPM file for the same binary distribution and
will upload that shortly as r-base-0.61.0-2.i386.rpm. I enclose...

Sorry in advance not to know where to post, but I'm new to wine.
I would play guild wars and unfortunately, as you guess, it doesn't
work.

First of all, I'm under debian stable and i'm using the debian package
wine_0.9.10~winehq1-2_i386.deb. My kernel is 2.6.8 and my graphic card
is an ati radeon 9000pro (I know ...ouch...)
So i first try with the dri driver and , although my 3D was
ok(openGL1.2 it seems), it was too slow to be playable and my mouse
didn't appear.
Lotus Notes 6.5 fail to install in Wine
Hi,
I'm trying to install Lotus Notes Client 6.5 in Brazilian Portuguese
with Wine 0.9.36 and its doesn't work. I find in
http://wiki.winehq.org/LotusNotes that this version of wine can
install and run the Lotus Notes 6.0, 6.5, and 7 Windows clients
without any special effort. And don't find any bugs related to that.
Someone know something about?
Thanks, Vitor

Tripp Lite OMNI1000 LCD issues
...s -u root -DDD -a trippy
The setup I have worked on a previous version of nut, but I
have forgotten at what point it stopped working. (I believe
it was around Nov, 2007 that I noticed things were not
working correctly.)
I track Debian testing and am currently using 2.6.24 kernel
and nut_2.2.1-2_i386.
Trying to start nut normally yields the following:
# /etc/init.d/nut start
Starting Network UPS Tools: (upsdrvctl failed) upsd.
After the above fails, usbhid-ups continues to run and I
have to manually kill it with a "kill -9" (-9 being the only
signal that will stop it. -1, -2 and -...
