I'm so close I can feel it :-) I'm having a problem connecting users to their home directories. Under "My Network Places" on XP clients I can see my Samba file server ("Hobbes") just fine. When I double click on it to open it, I get a login/password prompt that I can't bypass even though I try logins/passwords that exist on the ADS server and/or the UNIX accounts.

Why does dovecot mount the user home directory whenever the user checks his email (either pop or imap)? Is there a way to disable this? I have indicated in the default_mail_env = mbox:/home/%u/:INBOX=/mail/%u:INDEX=MEMORY. The users are in ldap. Windows users' home is in /home/%u so this is ok but unix users' home are in their local computers and are mounted (via automount) at

Hello together, since upgrading on samba 3.0.x (issue happens with all 3.0. release) the cpu-load on my samba PDC ist constantly near 100%. The cpu power ist consumed by all running smb-processes. Systrace shows me that the smb processes tried to access to /etc/passwd on a permanent basis. My question is: Why tries samba to access etc/passwd so often and produces this high cpu-load? Regards,
