(no subject)
I have 4 years of data and for each year, I have initialize the value so now for fitting the model, I want to remove the initial value and get the model based on remaining data set. Could anyone can help on this?
I want to get linear model based on fourth column and 13th column but need to remove the initial value for each year and each treatment ( the second column I have 1:36) .
Thank you,

Overlying a Normal Dist in a Barplot
R-Users,
Hopefully someone can shed some light on these questions as I had
little luck searching the archives (although I probably missed something
in my search due to the search phrase). I estimated multinomial
probabilities for some count data (number successful offspring) ranging
from 0 to 8 (9 possible response categories). I constructed a barplot
(using barplot2) and I want to

difference between coxph and cph
Hi. I am using Windows version of R 1.8.1. Being somewhat new to survival
analysis, I am trying to compare cph (Design) with coxph (survival) for use
with a survival data set.
I was wondering why cph and coxph provide me with different confidence
intervals
for the hazard ratios for one of the variables. I was wondering if I am
doing something wrong? Or if the two functions are calculating hazard

Samba, DOS, ARJ
Hello All,
I have problem on workstations with PC-DOS 2000 with MS Network Client 3.0 connected
to Samba 3.0.14a-0.4 (default on SLES 9) when I want to use ARJ.EXE (latest version 2.84) and unpack
archive xxxx.arj. When this archive is on network drive shared by samba unpacking does infinite loop.
For example arj l x:\xxx.arj produce never ending listing (and start of this listing is very slow).

Using subset to filter data table
I am having difficulty understanding how I would constrain a data set by
filtering out 'records' based on certain criteria.
Using SQL I could query using 'select * from my.data where LithClass in
('sand', 'clay')' or some such.
Using subset, there seem to be ghosts left behind (that is, all of the
LithClass *.Labels* remain after subset)

Help interpreting output of Rprof
Hello there,
I am not quite sure how to interpret the output of Rprof (in the following the output I was staring at). I was poking around the web a little bit for documentation but without much success. I guess if I want to figure out what takes so long in my code the 2nd table $by.total and the total.pct column (pct = percent) is the most helpful. What does it mean that [ or [.data.frame is

Blocking and Nested ANOVA Design. Am I using the aov() function correctly?
Dear list members,
I am new member and fairly new into R world! I hope what I have is not
beyond the purpose of this list. I did first search for similar
experimental designs without success.
I want to perform an ANOVA analysis using the aov() function. I am not
100% sure that I have it right. If anyone can help me, that will be
greatly appreciated. My design is not balanced for any of the

lm ~ v1 + log(v1) + ... improve adj Rsq ¿any sense?
Dear all,
I want to improve my adj - R sq. I 've chequed some established models and
they introduce two times the same variable, one transformed, and the other
not. It also improves my adj - R sq.
But, isn't this bad for the collinearity? Do I interpret coefficients as
usual?

I make a subroutine that give-me a (mathematical)

I would like transform this string into function ( R

Samba swamps the server's CPU
Hi. I'm running Samba 2.2.2 and Linux 2.4.7 on a dual PPro-200/256KB
server. The relevant NIC is an Intel EtherExpress PRO/100+. The
problem I'm having is that certain programs will swamp the server; the
load will spike immediately to 50% (i.e., 100% on one CPU) and
performance will, naturally, bite. Having another active connection
to the server at the same time causes _monster_

Plot data in sequence
Hi,
Thanks for the reproducible example.
Looking at
str(datn)
would give you a clue.
STATUS is a factor because it contains character values. Factor levels
by default are alphabetical with numbers first, but you can change
those.

I had suggested having size metrics from somewhat larger applications such

Problem with rpart
I work on Windows, R version 2.4.1. I'm very new with R!
I am trying to build a classification tree using rpart but, although the
matrix has 108 variables, the program builds a tree with only one split
using one variable! I know it is probable that only one variable is
informative, but I think it's unlikely. I was wondering if someone can help
me identify if I'm doing something

Help in troubleshoot cause of high kernel activity
Hi, I had been experiencing a problem on our dedicated server running Centos
5, and unable to successfully track down the problem.
Since about 6 days ago, I noticed a spike in load/CPU utilization which went
from a typical 0.2x-0.3x to 3.x. At the same time, average traffic also went
up and so did the log usage. Prior to this, the server was working fine and
there had been no changes to the
