Inventory service and dashboard 1.1.0 rc1
I just set up the latest dashboard release candidate in hopes of
trying out the new inventory service. After modifying the puppet-
dashboard config to use the inventory service and after changing my
auth.conf I gave it a whirl but ran into some issues..
I initially tried using fact_terminus = yaml and was able to do some
queries via curl. I''m currently using storeconfigs so setting up

Node or site.pp for global variables without dynamic lookup
Hi all,
I am working on rewriting my entire puppet environment and try to
''fix'' ''Dynamic lookup'' as it will be deprecated in some time, but even
after reading quite some docs and on the forum, it''s not really clear
to me.
What I have read so far, is that each variable must be fully-qualified
or parameterized in a class.

Modules review
Hello,
i have written some modules for Puppet and would be thankful, if someone
could take a look for quality enhancements.
http://194.94.79.17/hotkey/puppet.tar.gz
The only nasty part is, that i have defined some global variables at the
site.pp, which i am using at several templates.
And i am looking for a solution to collect the hostnames and ipaddresses
of all connected nodes, without

hiera on puppet 2.6.12
Hi,
I''m trying to use standard hiera on puppet (gentoo). I simply did
# gem install hiera
Then setup /etc/hiera.yaml
When i call the hiera() function in puppet i get
"Error 400 on SERVER: Unknown function hiera at /data/puppet/manifests/
site.pp:27"
Is there a step that I''m missing?
BTW. standalone hiera works fine.

Javascript & Rails future
Hi,
David H.H. announced recently that jquery is going to be the default in Rails 3.1, and that Prototype helpers / RJS are going into a gem.
What does that mean for the future? Should we progressively forget about things like javascript helpers, RJS, and all these fun parts of rails? And start coding with jquery/json in mind?
I''m not against that at all, but I have to admit I find RJS

problem with rack versions and puppet-dashboard
I get this error
can''t activate rack (~> 1.0.1), already activated rack-1.2.2
It appears that puppet-dashboard uses rack 1.0.1 but passenger 3.0.7
needs to use rack1.2.2
Is there a way around this or make dashboard use rack 1.2.2?

[threadsafe] Arel ToSql visitor is not threadsafe
Hey,
We hit a bug today because Arel::Visitors::ToSql is not threadsafe.
Here is what is happening:
Arel::Visitors::ENGINE_VISITORS is a cache of visitors instances.
These instances are not inherently threadsafe because it contains
state ''@last_column'', ''@connection'' that is shared between threads.
The other variables ''@pool'',

Problem with multiple requires in Ruby DSL
I''m loving playing around with the DSL. There are some problems (ie
5237), but now that it''s Ruby, I can fix them! woo!
However, I''m stumped on this one, which may or may not be related to
the DSL. When trying to have a resource have a simple dependency on
two things at once, it simply fails, and I''m stumped as to why. The
error message is:

question about how to set up an active record adapter to prefer use of prepared statements...
Hi,
I am writing an active record adapter for our new database and when I run
the tests I see lots of statements that could be run as prepared
statements, but instead of passing me bindings AR passes me a fully
specialized SQL string, not in all cases, but in many. Here is an example:
SELECT addrs.* FROM addrs WHERE addrs.user_id = 153 FETCH FIRST 1 ROWS ONLY
I do have this hook set up:

Multiple repositories under one file
Hello All,
In all the examples that I see you configure one repo per file;
i.e:
yumrepo { "testing.com-repo":
baseurl => "http://repos.testing.com/fedora/$lsbdistrelease/",
descr => "Testing.com''s YUM repository",
enabled => 1,
gpgcheck => 0,
}
But how do I specify multiple entries to the same file?. For

Hey all,
I am writing a plugin in which I want to stop the rendering of an

inside that before filter I do it like so:

CSRF protection in rails 2.3.11
Hi all,
I think CSFR protection broke in rails 2.3.11.
As in: it''s turned off now.
I tried this in rails 2.3.10 and in 2.3.11 and 2.3.11 seems broken.
>rails csrftest
>cd csrftest
>script/generate scaffold post title:string
>rake db:migrate
now I visit /posts/new in my browser, use firebug to delete or change
the authenticity token, and submit the form.

puppet agent 2.7 on windows
Hi Team,
Tried following the steps here http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/1/wiki/Puppet_Windows
for deploying an agent on windows (windows server 2008 r2) but really
finding it hard to make it work (the agent deployment itself went fine
after following the steps). I have a working puppet-server on RH 6 and
have tested few RH clients which work fine.
The very first hurdle is that i

Puppet playing badly with Debian etch rubygems
To install the ruby-augeas gem, I installed rubygems on Debian etch,
which lead to:
Setting up libgems-ruby1.8 (0.9.0-5) ...
Setting up ruby1.8-dev (1.8.5-4etch4) ...
Setting up rubygems (0.9.0-5) ...
Before this (I mean *immediately* before this) puppet worked fine
exceept for not being able to find a provider for Augeas. After
this, though:
