[PATCH] fish: Increase default size of prepared disks (-N) to 1G.
The guestfish prepared disks (-N option) all defaulted to 100M. This
has always been too small for btrfs (so for example ‘-N fs:btrfs’ has
failed for a long time), and can be too small for LVs with new LVM2 /
kernel >= 4.16.
This changes the default from 100M to 1G. The beginning of the 1.39
branch seems like a good time to make this change.

Rsync copies more than the changes
I use rsync on an SSD which is slow at writing, but very fast at
reading, so it is important to me to avoid writing data.
I had hoped rsync would only write changes in files when using
--inplace, but it seems not:
# Make a 1 GB file
$ perl -e 'print "x"x1000000000' > 1g
# rsync it (as expected this costs 1 GB writes)
$ ./rsync-3.1.0/rsync --progress --inplace -cva 1g 1g.copy
# Change the first 200 bytes inplace
$ perl -e 'open(A,"+<",shift) || die; seek(A,1,1); print A "a\n"x100;' 1g.copy
# rsync again
$ ./rsync-3.1.0/rsync --progres...

Dovecot 2.0.9 Quota Limit issues
...d anything.
Currently I have a Dovecot 2.0.9 with virtual users from a SQL table.
Right now I'm only using global quota limits. Here is my quota setup:
plugin {
quota = maildir:User quota
quota_rule = *:storage=3G
quota_rule2 = Trash:storage=+100M
quota_rule3 = Archive:storage=+1G
quota_rule4 = Archive/2013:storage=+1G
quota_rule5 = Junk:ignore
}
According to the documentation this should allow the Archive folder to
have an additional 1G in it that is not counted toward the global 3G.
However I have users who have 2G in the Archive folder, and about 1G
elsewhere....

SPEC cpu2000 will always fail for ia32 smp hvm guest
Hi all,
I find that SPEC cpu2k benchmark will always fail (9 of 10 times) for
ia32 smp hvm guest with 4 vcpus. I used 4 users parameter to run cpu2k
and assign 1G memory for the guest, but it will always fail when running
164.zip case and report warnings as the attachments. However, cpu2k
could be run successfully in native linux and xenU guest with the same
configuration. Anyone has ideas about this? Thank you.
Best regards,
Fan

find /etc -size -1G return only empty files
Hello
find /etc -size -1G
should return all files less than 1Giga byte in /etc, but return a
list of empty file (size=0)
find /etc -size -2G
work fine and return all the files
This works the same on my fedora11 and my centos 5 !
Did I miss something or is it a bug ?

RMySQL query: why result takes so much memory in R ?
Hi
I just started with RMySQL. I have a database with roughly 12 millions
rows/records and 8 columns/fields.
From all 12 millions of records I want to import 3 fields only.
The fields are specified as:id int(11), group char(15), measurement
float(4,2).
Why does this take > 1G RAM? I run R on suse linux, with 1G RAM and with
the code below it even fills the whole 1G of swap. I just don't
understand how 12e6 * 3 can fill such a huge range of RAM? Thanks for
clarification and potential solutions.

Slow I/O on ocfs2 file system
Hello,
I have found, that ocfs2 is very slow when doing I/O operation without

Renaming NIC name in CentOS 7
All,
I am trying to understand better how you give an interface a more descriptive name and get it all working without a reboot, if possible.
We have 1G and 10G interfaces, and I?m trying to use names like 1G-internal, 1G-external, 10G-private, etc. When I boot up, it?s all fine, but if I add one I?m not sure if there is a way to avoid the reboot? For example, I added the 10G interface names this week.
Specifically, is there a way to change the n...

Hey,
the following line in fstab used to work just fine for my /tmp:
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs rw,size=1g,mode=1777 0 0
But since I upgraded to 8.2-PRERELEASE, /tmp will soon run out of space
(usually after leaving the box overnight).

[LLVMdev] Stuck on linking llc on ARM
Hi all,
I have been stuck on compiling LLVM/Clang (r163485) on pandaboard which has
following configuration,
- Ubuntu 11.04 + 1G Mem + 1G Swap + 32G SD card
- GCC 4.5.2
- GNU gold (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu 2.21.0.20110327) 1.11
The compiling process stucks on linking llc, I am pretty surprised on
this. Anyone has similar issue or any idea? Thanks!
