i386 hypervisor seeing only ~16G RAM, amd64 required?
Hi, I have several machines using xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-i386 from etch-backports and they recently got upgraded to 20 or 24G RAM. I have seen talk of a limit of a 16G RAM with 32bit PAE Xen and indeed this is what I am seeing. I am guessing there is still no way to get the 32bit hypervisor to see more than 16G RAM, and I must go to 64bit. Can I boot a 64bit hypervisor and still keep the same 32bit dom0? What're people's experiences running 32bit domUs...

ZFS slows down over a couple of days
Hi all, I have exchanged my Dell R610 in favor of a Sun Fire 4170 M2 which has 32 GB RAM installed. I am running Sol11Expr on this host and I use it to primarily serve Netatalk AFP shares. From day one, I have noticed that the amount of free RAM decereased and along with that decrease the overall performance of ZFS decreased as well. Now, since I am still quite a Solaris newbie, I seem to

Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
Like many others, I am looking to put together a SOHO NAS based on ZFS/CIFS. The plan is 6 x 1TB drives in RAIDZ2 configuration, driven via mobo with 6 SATA ports. I''ve read most, if not all, of the threads here, as well as sbredon''s excellent article on building a home NAS, yet I still have a number of unanswered questions. I was leaning heavily towards the M2N-E for a while,

CPU Limit in Centos
A few years ago, I vaguely recall some issue with RHEL needing a special license or something like that, if you had more than a certain amount of CPU's or a certain amount of RAM. Does Centos work fine for 2 CPU's, 16 cores, 32 threads, and 256 G of ram? Centos6 specifically.

I do that all the time under Windows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Priscila [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

debug build busts memory
The linking state of a Debug build seems to require a humongous amount of memory. My poor little linux machine with 16G of ram swaps its brains out. Waiting for it to finish (if it ever does) is like the old days when you submitted your deck of cards and waited until the next day to see the results. To debug a new backend, is there a way to just get the debug info for the Target/Foo directory? Is there a way to...

HugePages - can't start guest that requires them
...of my guests and 16777216 KiB is the amount of memory I'm trying to give to the guest. Yes, i can see the hugepages via numastat -m and hugetlbfs is mounted via /dev/hugepages and there is a dir structure /dev/hugepages/libvirt/qemu (it's empty). HugePages is big enough to accommodate the 16G i'm allocating... and changing the perms on that directory structure to 777 doesn't work either. Any help is much appreciated.
