meaning of tests presented in anova(ols(...)) {Design package}
Hi, I am curious about how to interpret the table produced by anova(ols(...)), from the Design package. I have a multiple linear regression model, with some interaction, defined by: ols(formula = log(ksat * 60 * 60) ~ log(sar) * pol(activity, 3) + log(conc) * pol(sand, 3), data = sm.clean, x = TRUE, y = TRUE) n Model L.R. d.f. averaging X of specific Y (latitude)
Hello I have a table describing butterfly range traits. It is composed of three columns as below Species name range size (X) latitude of range midpoint (Y) There are 11 kinds of butterflies. Each has its range size, and the latitude of each range midpoint ranges from 9 to 19. I would like to have the average range size of every degree of latitude. For example, the average range

Remove Rows Based on Factor
Dear R Helpers, I did a search for deleting rows based on conditions but wasn't able to find an example that addressed the error that I am getting. I am hoping that this is a simple syntax phenomenon that somebody else knows off the top of their head. My apologies for not providing a reproducible example but I think that the information given will allow someone to give me a hint. I want to

2-Y-axes on same plot
Hi... Is this possible in R? I have 2-sets of data, that were collected simultaneously using 2- different data acquisition schemes. The x-values are the same for both. The y-values have different ranges (16.4-37.5 using one method, 557-634 using another). In theory, if you plot both plots on top of each other, the graphs should overlap. The problem I'm having is trying to have to

ggplot2 graphing multiple lines of data
Some day I may figure out how ggplot2 works. I am trying to plot 5 columns of data on a graph (similar to a simple matplot) =========================================================================== library(ggplot2) bmi <- structure(list(pct = 2:21, P10 = c(14.6, 14.5, 14.2, 13.9, 13.7, 13.7, 13.9, 14.2, 14.5, 14.8, 15.3, 15.9, 16.6, 17.2, 17.8, 18.1, 18.3, 18.4, 18.5, 18.6), P25 =

managing data and removing lines
Hi, I am very new to R and I've been trying to work through the R book to gain a better idea of the code (which is also completely new to me). Initially I imputed my data from a text file and that seemed to work ok, but I'm trying to examine linear relationships between gdist and gair, gdist and gsub, m6dist and m6air, etc. This didn't work and I think it might have something to do

Yum strangeness
Hi all, I was about to do an update on my server, but looking at what the output was and here's the output from the beginning with other parts left off. I currently don't even have the clamav server installed, but am using the 0.93 version of clamav-milter. I've never seen yum throw in so many packages that aren't even installed. I understand the dependencies has to be

How to do a pretty panel plot?
The pretty picture that I saw at: http://chartsgraphs.wordpress.com/2009/02/09/r-panel-chart-beats-excel-chart/#more-1096 inspired me to try something similar. The code that I wrote is: ------snipsnip--------------------------------------------------------------------- M <- structure(list(date = structure(c(13634, 13665, 13695, 13726, 13757, 13787, 13818, 13848, 13879, 13910, 13939, 13970,

Shadowed Plot
Hello R-users     Kindly assist me with the following plot problem in R- My data looks like this (shortened because I have about 5000 observations).   dat <- read.table(textConnection("Id  Time Y      1 0   194 1 5.22 179 1 5.97 190 2 1.61 265 2 2.1  234 2 16.4 300 2 29.5 345 3 0    212 3 0.36 213 4 0    199 4 1.23  203 5  0   212 5  13.5 216 6  0    222 6  1.6 234" ), header =

Biglm source code alternatives (E.g. Call to Fortran)
Hi everyone, I have been looking at the Bigglm (Basically does Generalised Linear Models for big data under the Biglm package) command and I have done some profiling on this code and found that to do a GLM on a 100mb file (9 million rows by 5 columns matrix(most of the numbers were either a 0,1 or 2 randomly generated)) it took about 2 minutes on a linux machine with 8gb of RAM and 4 cores.

labelling a stacked barchart (lattice)
All: Below is my code for creating a basic horizontal, stacked barchart. I'd like to label the plot in two ways: 1) place the x values in each piece and 2) place the y values above each piece (angled). I'm currently using lattice, but I'm open to suggestions using ggplot2. Questions: 1. Can this be done?...I assume yes. So, what are the best options/functions for doing this. 2.

Implicit vs explicit printing and the call stack
Hi everyone, I've run into a bit of strange problem with implicit vs explicit printing and the call stack. I've included an example at the bottom of this email. The basic problem is that I have an S3 object with a print method. When the object is implicitly printed (ie. typed directly into the console) the function arguments in the call stack are exploded out to their actual values,
