kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 10101 (rsync)
I just upgrade a file server from RH7.2 to RH8.0. Now, I am having a heck of a
time trying to sync up more than 345GB of data. I keep getting "kernel: Out of
Memory: Killed process 10101 (rsync)" in /var/log/message. Has anyone seen this
problem before?
Thanks!

Social Network Analysis and R
...ties of a number of small ego-centred or local
networks. I've installed both the R program and the sna package. My next task
is importing the data into R.
Our data was entered into Spss in an edgelist format in which each case
specifies the link between an alter and an ego. For example:
10101 10102 1
10101 10103 3
10102 10104 2
10201 10203 4
10203 10204 2
The following data fragment for example shows an ego-centred network of 2
persons: 101 and 102. Person 101 for example reports of a closeness of ties
between alters 01 and 02 = value of 1; alters 01 and 03 - value of...

winbind error - Conversion error: Illegal multibyte sequence(æ~S^\^H)
Hi there
I hope that you understand by English. I'm a Rooky and don't know Samba very well. I installed the newest version 3.0.10 on my SuSE Linux 7.3 machine and it works very well. I make User- and Passwort-Requests with Samba (winbind) for the Squid-Proxy. Now always work's well but I get the following error message from log.winbind:

Since I usually don't know who will be getting which

I/O errors with usbhid-ups and Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT
...it set up with NUT,
since it seems to be supported. I can get the whole NUT stack up and
running, but the driver seems to only stay up for a couple minutes
before crashing out.
I've uploaded the level 6 debug output of the driver (with my serial
number removed) here:
https://wuffleton.com:10101/paste/VKP5olfp#IaqkLAyzbMDnrervAofVxqggDv3KP2B-CoUT1w+486a
From what I can gather - it runs into an I/O error, and when it tries
to reconnect it's unable to claim the device because it's still busy.
Are there any settings I can set in ups.conf to workaround this or any
places I should...

Corrupted SSL parameters file in state_dir: ssl-parameters.dat
...U/Linux
I have been experimenting with backup options to another server using
dovadm and was trying to use the doveadm service as a workaround
seeing as I couldn't decipher what the docs were saying about ssh.
My doveadm stanza looks as follows:
service doveadm {
inet_listener {
port = 10101
ssl = yes
}
}
If "ssl=no", a pushed "doveadm backup" from the remote machine works OK.
But if I enable SSL, the doveadm backup on the remote machine hangs.
And the destination machine prints the following two massages in the
logs :

...es into unsigned like so:
0 -> 0
-1 -> 1
1 -> 2
-2 -> 3
2 -> 4
-3 -> 5
3 -> 6
...and so on. the resulting unsigned value is then encoded
similar to how you described:
[val>>k zeroes]1[k low-order bits]
example:
start with value=-11, k=3
-11 folded becomes 21 == 10101
for k=3, split into 10|101, i.e. 2 and 5
transmit 2 zeros, 1 stop bit, 101 in binary
00 1 101 == 001101
one day I'll get to updating the format page to make that clearer.

Is there a better way to do that? How can I avoid copying of such large
objects? E.g., does x<-t(x) copy x or not?
Thanks,
