Bonding and network cards
Hi, I have been playing this weekend with bonding on PCI netcards and found that all of netcards I have, but old 3com, do not support MII. So bonding is not going to happen with them. Do you have some pci netcards supporting MII successfully running on bonging? Thanks, David Hrb??

HP DL585 - CentOS4.5 - kix woes
...jor hurdle. We dont seem to be able to kix any of these boxes. I have been most recently trying on a dl585 and the issue appears to be that the kix kernel does not detect any nic. Its strange as the box can be installed using iso's and the nic appears as eth0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-T (A2) PCI-X 64-bit 100MHz found at mem fa000000, IRQ 209, node addr 001a4bedcf1c bnx2: eth0: using MSI which seems a pretty standard nic to me - has anyone been able to kix new hp kit recently using 4.5 ?? thanks

how to enable Flow Control on CentOS?
Hi, I have an interesting situation with one of our switches. It's a D-Link DGS-3100, 24 port 10/100/1000 Layer 2 Managed switch with some CentOS servers connected to it. On many of the servers I need to disable Flow Control on the switch's ports otherwise the CentOS server's doesn't connect to the switch. i.e. the Switch indicates that the LAN cable is unplugged and CentOS can

bce reporting fantom input errors?
Hi, After changing cables, switches, ports, I came to the conclusion that bce is reporting input errors that are not there, or creating them. I checked this with 3 different boxes, all Dell-2950/Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T (B2), and one of them, while running Solaris, reported 0 errors after a week, and freebsd after a few minutes its count was > 100. The errors appear under 7.-PRERELEASE, but not under 7.0 Anybody else seeing this? danny

ethtool
We've just moved one a new server from our sever room, where I built it, to the datacenter. We want to force autoneg off, and tell it gigabit and full duplex. Using ethtool, I get no errors setting the speed or duplex. HOWEVER, autoneg on works... and autoneg off utterly refuses to work, and gives: ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off Cannot set new settings: Invalid argument not setting autoneg

Help with a simple config
...NO CAP simply 100mbit I want to cap the traffic on each of the subscriber NIC''s to a specific rate i.e.: - NIC-2: 8mbit - NIC-3: 5mbit - NIC-4: 3mbit Just to summarize, ALL I''m trying to do is limit the bandwidth on each NIC (ingress & egress) whether it is 10/100/1000Base-T. Right now I am using a Cisco using rate-limiting which is very simple. I''d like to perform this task on Linux box for easier scalibility and as a backup. Thanks for your assistance! -JGR
