your Tripp-Lite AVR550U
...t for newhidups
recently, and I wonder if you have any feedback. Did you ever get this
device to work?
>From the information you sent, it looks like it quite might be a
proper HID power class device (not serial-over-usb). If you could run
(as root)
newhidups -u root -DD -x generic -x vendorid=09ae auto
we might be able to confirm whether this is the case. In case the
above test succeeds, I might be able to add explicit support for this
device to newhidups. It's the only device with device ID 09ae:1003
that I have seen so far.

Support for Tripp-Lite AVRX550U
Since version 2.0.5 the AVR550U is supported. The X version however is not. The difference, as far as I can see, is the voltage 120V (non-X) vs 230V (X).
Is there a way to fake the productid of the X version? Or, alternatively will the X version be supported in the future?

"Can't claim USB device [09ae:3024]: could not detach kernel driver from interface 0: Operation not permitted"
Is probably an issue with NUT grabbing the UPS... can you disconnect and reconnect the USB cable and try again?
If that fails, maybe a udev rule will help.

Tripplite Smart1200LCD and Debian
Hey all,
I am trying to use NUT for a Tripplite Smart1200 LCD on a fresh copy of Debian 6.0.2.1. I installed NUT version 2.4.3 and I have pored through pages and pages of other posts, but for the life of me I can not get it to recognize the Tripplite. I know its an 09ae:2009 device and I've tried to add a rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/52-nut-usbups.rules as according to some posts, but to no avail. Whenever I try to run upsdrvctl start, it always returns:
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.4.3
