Liebert UPS, serial cable questions
Hi,
I have a Liebert GXT2-1000RT230 UPS that is connected to my server
using a serial cable.
I have no idea to what port exactly it is connected so my first
question is: how do I find out what /dev/tty** should I use?
Do I need to install a device driver for it? Where do I find it?
What should I use and how do I do so the server shuts down if the
battery level is low?
Yes, I'm a newby,

create function to solve derivative
Readers,
A data set comprises
A B C
10 6 .2
20 7 .4
30 8 .16
40 9 .0256
My requirement is to obtain the derivative for values of A with
respect to B, create a function in R and plot this derivative against
another variable (e.g. values in column C).
Have searched the mailing list and found reference to a function 'D',
but the help accessed via '?D' an...

0.0013 0.023 0.16 0.5 0.84 0.98 1
I have been asked to interpret
E[X2|X1 = 6.3] and varE[X2|X1 = 6.3]
I take it that s<- = 0.16 is the standard variation
So I am assuming that varE[X2|X1 = 6.3] = 0.16^2 = .0256
m <- 5.3 + 0.6*(6.3 - 5.8) = 5.6 this the Expected value of E[X+Y]
I see from the output that this would be correct because the probability of
5.6 = 0.5
to interpret E[X2|X1 = 6.3] I can't see it in the output. And I'm not sure
how to find the conditional probabilty from the out...

Multi-line string constants: proposed patch
...of each line (except the last line). As noted by Mark
Bravington (http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/02b/5199.html)
this requirement appears to be undocumented.
In S-Plus 6.2, multi-line strings do not need a backslash for continuation.
I recently (http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04b/0256.html)
requested compatability with S-Plus and was told to contribute
a patch and then it would be considered. Here is the proposed patch.
In the files src/main/gram.y and src/main/gram.c strings
are parsed with the StringValue function. Looking at the function it is
clear that a newline charac...
