Can I test if there are statistical significance between different rows in R*C table?
Dear friends, My R*C table is as follow: better good bad Goup1 16 71 37 Group2 0 4 61 Group3 1 6 57 Can I test if there are statistical significant between Group1 and Group2, Group2 and Group3, Group1 and Group2, taking into the multiple comparisons? The table can be set up using the following program: a<-matrix(data=c(16,71,37,0,4,61,1,6,57),nrow=3,byrow=TRUE) Thanks

a +1 shift overlaying lines/points on a boxplot (PR#398)
Full_Name: Adrian Custer Version: 0.90.0 OS: Linux on Thinkpad (pentium) and desktop (K6) Submission from: (NULL) (128.32.251.234) When I create a boxplot, and then try to overlay a lowess fit or just the points, the points do not appear in the highest level and the lowess curve does not reach the highest level. However, if I add one to each of the models, the problem is solved. I tried this

finding a faster way to run lm on rows of predictor matrix
Hi, everyone. I need to run lm with the same response vector but with varying predictor vectors. (i.e. 1 response vector on each individual 6,000 predictor vectors) After looking through the R archive, I found roughly 3 methods that has been suggested. Unfortunately, I need to run this task multiple times(~ 5,000 times) and would like to find a faster way than the existing methods. All three

Partial Credit Models using eRm
Hello all, I have just started using fitting the PCM (Partial Credit Model) using eRm and have 2 problems which I cannot solve, I have checked everywhere on the net, but no joy: Firstly, I have fit a PCM model to 10 variables with differing response categories (3 for the first 6 items, 4 for the following 2 and 2 for the last two items). mat1 <- matrix(c(rasch_bart$bart_bowel,

Extracting slots from ROCR prediction objects
Hi, I have an object from the prediction function from the ROCR package and I would like to extract one of the slots from the object, for example the cutoffs slot. However the usual techniques ($, [["name"]]) of subsetting don't work. How can I assess the lists in the slots? Here is an example of what I am working with: library(ROCR) data(ROCR.simple) pred <-

ts model challenge (transfer function)
Dear useRs, I am trying to model a time series with a transfer function. I think it can be put into the ARMA framework, and estimated with the 'arima' function (and others have made similar comments on this list). I have tried to do that, but the results have so far been disappointing. Maybe I am trying to make 'arima' do something it can't... The data are time series of

summary.lme and anova question
Dear all, When analyzing data from a climate change experiment using linear mixed-effects models, I recently came across a situation where: - the summary(model) showed a significant difference between the levels of a two-level factor, - while the anova(model) showed no significance for that factor (see below). My question now is: Is the anova.lme() approach correct for that model? And why does

leaps: XHAUST returned error code -999
Hi there, This problem has been dogging me for a bit, and I'm trying to figure out why. When running the the subsets function in the leaps library, R is giving me the following error message > lvodsub <- subsets(pred, resp$LVOD) Warning message: XHAUST returned error code -999 in: leaps.exhaustive(a, really.big = really.big) but this still happens if I add the really.big option:

A question about stepwise procedures: step function
Dear all, I tried to use "step" function to do model selection, but I got an error massage. What I don't understand is that data as data.frame worked well for my other programs, how come I cannot make it run this time. Could you please tell me how I can fix it? ***************************************************************************************************

Fitting t copula
I'm a new user of R and a novice user in copula R package. I want to fit 3-dimensional t copula for my trivariate data. So I used the command t.cop <- tCopula(c(0.785,0.283,0.613),dim=3,dispstr="un",df=6,df.fixed = TRUE) where c(0.785,0.283,0.613) is the correlation pattern of my data with 0.785 pearson correlation between variable 1-2, 0.283 correlation between 1-3 and 0.613

Estimating survival?
Hi, Sorry to trouble the list. I have a problem which I'm not sure how to resolve. I have a Cox model with 1 independent variable with 2 categories (and thus 2 survival curves on plotting survfit) How can I get an estimate of survival for each category at a particular time point, with standard error? Looking through ?cph and ?coxph, I'm not quite sure how to go about that. I would

Question on glm.nb vs zeroinfl vs hurdle models
Good afternoon, I?m in need of an advice regarding a proper use of glm.nb, zeroinfl or hurdle with my dataframe. I can not provide a self-contained example, since I need an advice on this current dataset and its ?contradictory? results. So.... i have a dataset which contains 1309 cases and 11 variables, highly right-skewed and heavily zeroinflated (with over 1100 cases that have 0 value

Two Problems while trying to aggregate a dataframe
Hello! Given is an Excel-Sheet with actually 11,000 rows and 9 columns. I want to work with the data in R. The contents are similar to my following example. I have a list with ID-number, personal name and two kinds of loan-values. I want to aggregate the list, that for each person only one row remains and where the loan-values are added. First I tried some commands with tapply but had no
