Is it possible to rename de DNS realm only and leave the NETBIOS name as is or
is it mandatory to rename both?

I have never used this tool (never had reason to), but it appears that
you have to rename both.

Just in case you missed it, do not use this tool to create a new domain
for production, it isn't supported for such use.
