samba - Mar 2018 - basic question

hello
i wish to install (Active Directory & Domain Controller) & 802.1x 
Openradis
so i could easy manage some User and a couple of Accesspoint

i have a question about this

what does Realm mean

and

Domain would this be only "example.com"

realm is the example.com (DNS domain name)

domain means the Netbios domain name (eg nt4 domain name), a short name
with no dots.
