samba - Mar 2017 - Bidirectional Rsync/Unison based SysVol replication workaround

Hi

I use /usr/bin/rsync -XAavz --log-file /var/log/sysvol-sync.log
--delete-after -f"+ */" -f"- *"  /var/lib/samba/sysvol
root at DC2:/var/lib/samba  &&  /usr/bin/unison  &> /dev/null

and works ok

but not working with crontab

*/5 * * * * root  /usr/bin/rsync -XAavz --log-file
/var/log/sysvol-sync.log --delete-after -f"+ */" -f"- *" 
/var/lib/samba/sysvol root at DC2:/var/lib/samba  &&  /usr/bin/unison 
&>
/dev/null

Hai, 

Check your /root/.unison/default.prf file 

This is what you should have and one of these is not correct

root = /var/lib/samba
root = ssh://root at DC2//var/lib/samba  
path = sysvol

Ps. This is what im using. 

# sync during office hours. 
*/5 7-18 * * 1,2,3,4,5 root  /usr/bin/rsync -XAavz --log-file
/var/log/sysvol-sync.log --delete-after -f"+ */" -f"- *" 
/var/lib/samba/sysvol root at 192.168.249.212:/var/lib/samba  && 
/usr/bin/unison  &> /dev/null

If you checked the unison file, test as followed. 

/usr/bin/rsync -XAavz --log-file /var/log/sysvol-sync.log \
--delete-after -f"+ */" -f"- *"  /var/lib/samba/sysvol \
root at DC2:/var/lib/samba

and then run 
/usr/bin/unison
