Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hi,
I was thinking about bidirectional sync of sysvol and i've a question:
?What about DRBD?. You can create a disk partition in every node, create a
DRBD cluster and then mount that partition on sysvol folder. The
sincronization is bidirectional and in real time.
For now i've not tested this option, but i've plans to start some tests.
What is your opinion about this?
Greetings!!

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Dear Belle,
That produce the similar situation.
Thus I'm trying osync
And the result are much present according to my test case
And configuration are much streamline.
However, I'm not sure how it can work with 2 DC or more...
Thank You

Dear Daniel, Klaus
I've try that before
But because of how samba work on the files.
The Advise is No

Bidirectional wiki page correction suggestion
I just setup replication of sysvol between my two DC's using the
"Bidirectional Rsync/osync based SysVol replication workaround" and all
went well with two exception.
First, it seems that since an upgrade to Openssh version 7.0 that "dsa"
key use is disabled by default by the Openssh team. There has been some
questions for some time now regarding the security of

Hello Rowland, Louis and Min,
sorry for late reply, I was really busy in the past days. As Min already wrote, I have made the same experience unfortunately. With Rowland's suggested settings it didn't solve the problem. I'm on another issue at the moment and didn't find time to check the rsync/unison process on my own, but I'll promise I'll dive into it as soon as I can.

Sysvol replication with Unison for more than 2 server.
Dear Louis,
Just to check...
Would it be possible to have more than 2 DC using Unison to sync?
I was trying to make this to the samba wiki.
But when reading the list I see Rowland talking about the SID and RID issue
Because of built-in group SID is not sync across domain.
Which I think samba should have their own way of dealing this or it will
just be a mess in a long run.
Did we have any

Proper sysvol replication solution...
I see the Samba guide suggests using rsync to keep sysvols in sync, but
this poses a problem with ID's and it is only one-way. I have been
hesitant to suggest anything because of the flak I have been getting,
but I do believe I have a much better solution that transfers files via
SSH, is bi-directional (no more only editing group policy on one
server), and does NOT set UID/GID

Samba Wiki change suggestion
On the "Bidirectional Rsync/Unison based SysVol replication workaround"
page. The title (as you can see) includes the word UNISON when in fact
the "Unison" program is NOT being used for this replication anymore. As
the instructions there actually use "Osync" then the word "UNISON"
should probably need to be replaced with "OSYNC". (I looked

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hello Min Wai Chan,
?
Can you explain more about,, the DC1 will remove any emptey directory on DC1.
tested it here, but that does not occure here.
i can create empty directories on DC1, and these are synced to DC2. empty or not.
?
?DC1 will overwrite any users/group change on DC2?
if setup correctly, your sysvol rights on DC1 and DC2 are the same..
?
i suggest you to the following.

setup-sysvol-bidirectional.sh unable to id administrator
hi everyone
i have setup and run L.v. Belle's setup-sysvol-bidirectional.sh
all seems to be ok except that i cannot id or getent passwd administrator
id returns no such user
getent returns nothing
but samba-tool user list and wbinfo -u returns Administrator in their lists
id and getent reports other samba users as normal.
i have sssd in my nsswitch.conf, not sure if that makes any difference

I did:

root at dc2:~$ service sernet-samba-ad stop
root at dc2:~$ mv /var/lib/samba/private/idmap.ldb /root/idmap.ldb.bak

DC2 denies access when saving through the Group Policy Management Console
Hello list,
I am not sure if this is a bug or known already but I will describe it. I have two domain controllers running on 4.1.12/sernet which are linked together. I am using unison for bidirectional sync for the sysvol directory as described on samba's wiki, although in my opinion the problem I will describe in the following has nothing to do with the sync process. The sync occurs every

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hello all,
Just to ask have anyone try osync before?
https://github.com/deajan/osync
And would you think that this will fix our issue on
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/SysVol_Bidirectional_Replication
Where DC2 files or folder will be removed?
Thank You.

dovecot and unison
I am successfully using dovecot purely as a personal local mail store on
my desktop. (There is only one account, and it's only ever accessed by
local mail clients on the machine. The point is to have a common store I
can use with any client; plus, I prefer dovecot's Mailbox storage to
Thunderbird's mboxes.)
Now I'd like if possible, to replicate this setup on my laptop and

rsync vs. unison
Hey all,
I'm looking into a two-way WAN mirror on two boxes running Mac OS X
10.4. It seems that both rsync (with the -u option) and unison could
do this. Any suggestions on how to choose one over the other?
Many thanks,
