Samba 3 won't work as a BDC for a Windows PDC. I don't think Samba 4
would
either but you have to check the documentation at samba.org.
But you could probably make the samba server a member server in the Windows
domain- assuming that the WAN connection between the two is persistent and
reliable. Or you could just have the external office in a 2nd domain with
trusts between the domains.

Subject: [Samba] samba to act as bdc for w2k8 AD?
Hello everybody,
could samba (version 3 or 4) act as a "bdc" for an w2k8/r2 AD?
There's one external office with a few users only, and there will be a
samba-based system for file-storage - so if that system could also do
the user-authentication for all users there it'd be nearly perfect ...
Have a nice weekend!
