Hello, I recently upgraded from Samba 2 to 3. I noticed that in the Samba By Example documentation they refer to the smb.conf as being located in /etc/samba. In my version 2 implementation of Samba the smb.conf was always located in /usr/local/samba/lib. So does version 3 of Samba look for smb.conf in /etc/samba by default now? Thanks, Eric
Samba 3 does indeed use /etc/samba/smb.conf. alan On 7/7/06, Eric Evans <eje4@cornell.edu> wrote:> Hello, > > I recently upgraded from Samba 2 to 3. When compiling with no tweaks to configure, the default location is stil /usr/local/samba/lib/. /etc/samba/ is a packaging choice. cheers, jerry ====================================================================Samba ------- http://www.samba.org Centeris ----------- http://www.centeris.com "What man is a man who does not make the world better?" --Balian -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFEruTCIR7qMdg1EfYRAuyfAKCvGn3IEP/ZA1neVDQXLhsAX6OLFwCfbcQM X94bEwWaqrTuxE3YH2it7eU=XGkx -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
