[Samba] Samba file server authenticated via active directory
Hey all, I have configured samba, winbind, and pam to join and use credentials from our domain server. Everything works as expected except authentication against samba shares. It simply rejects the password and prompts for re-entry. I have set the following in smb.conf: security= domain I am running Ubuntu Dapper. Any ideas what might be the blocker? Thanks. -Ty

[Samba] Samba file server authenticated via active directory
I am using winbind to retrieve credentials. The times are in sync, and I can get smbclient on localhost to authenticate using AD names if i set security = share. I cannot get a windows machine to auth using the same settings.. Very odd. ideas? -Ty On 6/28/06, updatemyself . <updatemyself@gmail.com> wrote:> check the time difference between both machine.. > and make sure both r same (kerbrose depends on time ) > > if its the issue.. keep a time server for ur network... > > also try to open the share my entering the file server IP > if its the time difference problem.. it will open with IP > > regards > jerrynikky. > > > On 6/29/06, Ty Norton < tynorton@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Hey all, > > I have configured samba, winbind, and pam to join and use credentials > from our domain server. And getent passwd retrieves the domain accounts also? This was at least my problem... :) Cheers, Henrik 3 jul 2006 kl. 18:47 skrev Ty Norton:> I am using winbind to retrieve credentials.
