hello, I have a problem with the CAD software SolidWorks (2006 rc2.0 and rc0.0) and Samba (3.0.14a on Debian Gnu/Linux 3.1 Sarge (stable). There are several stations running Windows XP and SolidWorks. Before the migration (from Windows XP server), the application was running ok. The problem is while opening new files, I have messages like "connection to file has been lost...", "cannot open fichier ...", ... I called the support and they said that Samba is not supported by SolidWorks, which support only Windows servers (and not all versions...). It's due to the fact that SolidWorks open several hundred of files at the same time (I think it's true) and read them immediatly... I tried several configurations of samba, especialy removing oplocks. It still doesn't work. Any idea ? Thanks for your help. Jean-Yves

There are severalI am administering a site which ATM uses Solidworks 2005 on W2k with samba 3.0.14a on TL which works fine. I basically didn't have to do anything special to get it to work (ok I have a bit of a special setup to start with). tom.
Hello, The SW support is from Axemble, France. They're proud to say they are the european leader in distributing SW. Why not... There are no messages in relation with my problem in the Samba logs. But, yesterday I installed an UPS so I stopped every machines, servers and stations. Now SW works fine, but for how much time ? I asked the users to put their drawing on their local disk and use servers only for storing standard components. Thanks for your help. Jean-Yves
