Hi, We are attempting to use Windows 2000 Terminal Servicer as an SMB client to samba. The worst problem is with the file viewer (accessible from "My Computer) and explorer. We cannot drag and drop files into the either file viewer or explorer windows displaying shares from the samba server. When a file is dragged to a file viewer/explorer window the icon changes to circle with a line across (resembling a universal no) and drag operation is rejected. I can create files and folders with the menu commands. Files can be pasted into these same windows. Drag and drop works with the tree view of explorer. Applications can open and save files to the samba shares. I can copy files to samba shares from the command line. Windows XP Professional clients work OK. I have tried this with samba version 3.0.5 Mac OS 10.3, and samba version 3.0.10 on Mac OS 10.4. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks, Ken McKee
Windows 2000 Terminal Services has a SERIOUS bug that M$ will not fix. (last I looked anyways, the kb article # eludes me at this moment) This may or may not be the cause of your problem. Scenario. User A logs on, share N gets mapped as drive M User B logs on, share N gets mapped as drive M User C logs on, share N gets mapped as drive M User D logs on, share N gets mapped as drive M If any of the users, A, B, C or D log off, ALL MAPPINGS for ALL USERS for share N for drive M are disconnected by the W2K OS. The problem was due to a hotfix. I took a test machine and started removing hotfixes. Removing KB890047 fixed the problem. Searching form KB890047 and samba confirmed others had this problem before. I went back to the production machine; no KB890047 installed. Drat! A little more searching; KB890047 was replaced by KB893086. I removed KB893086 and that fixed it. -Ken McKee> Ken wrote: > >> Hi, >> We are attempting to use Windows 2000 Terminal Servicer as an SMB >> client >> to samba. >> The worst problem is with the file viewer (accessible from "My >> Computer) and >> explorer.
