samba - Aug 2004 - Samba 3.05 RPMS for SuSe Professional 9.1

The June Samba update (going from 3.02 to 3.04) for SuSe Professional
9.1 brought my Samba server to its knees.  A few windows clients could
connect, but the load average quickly escalated until the server had to
be rebooted.  I had to revert back to 3.02.  Has anyone running a Samba
server as a member server of an NT 4 domain successfully applied used
the latest SuSe updates (RPMS to Samba 3.05)?  I like to be current on
patches, but once bitten, twice shy...

Due to an "Access Denied" error in 3.0.5 that we did not see here in
3.0.4 I would be shy of 3.0.5. I am testing 3.0.6 currently. You might check
samba.org to see if the SuSE packages for 3.0.6 are
cooked yet. Debian was done so I pulled from their since debian.org has not
updated yet.

However, 3.0.4 seemed very solid here. No Windows servers for them to play with
though.

Hi, i have running and updated to samba 3.04
on suse 9.0 without any problems.
as the 3.05 is mostly a security update ( swat ) i see no need to go up to
3.05, and i will wait until 3.06 is on suse ftp servers....,
suse 9.1 has a few bugs and many changes ( see release notes )
i e utf encoding and a dramatice dns behavior change ( you cant use a 
.local zone anymore ).....your problem may relate to update perhaps
not all packs where really updated ( mixed libaries?), try rpm --nodeps 
--force which was successfull anytime at my setups. ( but better try on 
a test system )
a look in your logs may help you out ,too
