I've been trying to set up CUPS as a printer backend for Samba. The
printer is named "kmfs3830n-1-7.apf" in our internal DNS. CUPS knows
it
as kmfs3830n-1-7. When I try printing to it in Samba, I get errors like
this:
> [2004/07/01 09:31:51, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(857)
> pinky (192.168.2.101) couldn't find service kmfs3830n-1-7
Pinky is a Mac OS X 10.3 workstation.
If I change the name of the printer in CUPS to "Programming",
everything works fine.
Is the issue here that "-" is an invalid character for printer names,
is kmfs3830n-1-7 just too long, or have I perhaps missed the plot
entirely?
Thanks
Alex
