We got a result with the following:
Ben,
In smb.conf I changed
"security=SHARE" to "security=USER" (see new smb.conf
manpage)
This works for everyone if "encrypt passwords = no" is also set.
If "encrypt passwords = yes" is set, then it only works if you add
your
username/passwd to the smbpasswd file, e.g.
smbpasswd -a swilliam
<unix passwd>
<confirm unix passwd>
So as there is nothing in the old smbpasswd file I presume it works at the
moment by sending plain text passwords - not massively secure, but to change
it would need to run smbpasswd for everyone that uses samba.
Cheers,
Steve
