I have samba (3.0.0-15) mounted an NT directory to a Linux machine (Fedora 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl). Everything looks fine until I read get a directory listing with lots of files in it. Samba reports different numbers of files at different times. while [ 1 ]; do echo `date` "->" `ls -1 | wc -l`; done Fri Apr 2 13:52:10 EST 2004 -> 38763 Fri Apr 2 13:52:13 EST 2004 -> 38720 Fri Apr 2 13:52:16 EST 2004 -> 38753 Fri Apr 2 13:52:19 EST 2004 -> 38719 Fri Apr 2 13:52:22 EST 2004 -> 38763 Fri Apr 2 13:52:25 EST 2004 -> 38763 Fri Apr 2 13:52:28 EST 2004 -> 38744 Fri Apr 2 13:52:31 EST 2004 -> 38759 ... I've seen various messages posted about this problem, but I haven't found a solution. Any ideas/hints?
