[Samba] Samba 3.0.2a printing to Laserjet5 from access 2002 or higher
First thank you in advance for any help you may give I have brought up Samba 3.0.2a all is working very well except in a very specific instance on redhat 8.0 Compiled from sources with the bugzilla tracking patch 1147 installed though we had this problem before 1147 was installed When trying to print, print preview, or even generate a new report from access 2002 or newer and only when an HP laserjet 5 is the default printer we get the following errors from XP A very generic unable to create report message is generated No messages generated on the server side All other printing appears to work well, in fact if the default printer is any other HP printer (laserjet 4m, laserjet 8000, laserjet 8100, etc) there appears to be no problem. Printing directly to the printer using a tcp/ip port works also Printers are all lpr printers with jetdirect interfaces setup as raw print queues using printconf relevant printer entires are marketing, accounting smb.config as follows: # Samba config file created using SWAT # from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) # Date: 2004/02/27 10:20:13 # Global parameters [global] workgroup = CCCDISTRICT server string = Freelog interfaces = 172.16.1.16/24 update encrypted = Yes null passwords = Yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat = *password* %n\n *password* %n\n * unix password sync = Yes log level = 1 log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 500 name resolve order = host wins bcast socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 logon script = scripts\%U.bat logon path logon drive = g: logon home = \\%L\%U domain logons = Yes os level = 255 preferred master = Yes domain master = Yes wins proxy = Yes wins support = Yes ldap ssl = no invalid users = bin, daemon, adm, sync, shutdown, halt, mail, news admin users = crom hosts allow = 172.16.1.0/24, 127.0.0.1 hosts deny = all profile acls = Yes preserve case = No short preserve case = No [homes] comment = Home Directory path = /shares/users/%u force group = users read only = No force group = users read only = No create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 default case = upper browseable = No [netlogon] comment = Network Logon Service path = /shares/netlogon browseable = No locking = No share modes = No [profile] path = /shares/profile read only = No create mask = 0600 directory mask = 0700 csc policy = disable [accounting] comment = Printer in Steve White's Office path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [ccclabel] comment = Label Printer path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [clientserv] comment = Next to Programmers/Client Serv path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [hpops1] comment = Operations path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [hpops2] comment = Operations path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [hpops3] comment = Operations path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [hpv] comment = Operations path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [kyocera] comment = Color Printer path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [epson1500] comment = Conference Room path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [marketing] comment = Dan Cutler's Officer path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [uniadmin] comment = Bonnie's Office path = /tmp comment = Bonnie's Office printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [unihp5] comment = Uniphy by Tina path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [uniphyhpiv] comment = Uniphy by Label path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [marketingoffice] comment = Marketing Office path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes [uniprt1] comment = Uniphy by Copier path = /tmp printer admin = @CCC printable = Yes ~ -- Roger A.
