that your written english is not that bad.
And yes, getting Samba and Winbind setup correctly so that all your
authentication is being done through a pre-existing WinNT/Win2K primary
domain controller is great. Right now, I am only using winbind for
authenticating and restricting access to Samba shares. I would try out using
it for other things, but there is no reason to. We've already got a mail
server and no one needs to be able to telnet/ssh to the Samba server using
their domain account.
Heh, I also know what it is like to set one of these suckers up. Lots of
documentation from multiple places (man pages, html docs, "Using
Samba" html
book, how-to's) made getting everything figured out and configured quite a
task. I had print outs every where. It was A LOT of fun though, learned
quite a bit as well. I had never setup a Samba server before, and that made
it even more fun. It took me about a week to get everything setup up
straight and how I wanted it.
I am glad that you have been successful as well.
Also, I look forward to reading any information/document that you write up.

It won't be that easy Noel, because my english (at least my written english)
is not that good... We'll try a fresh reinstallation using our notes to
check if every step is detailed... We'll have to compile these notes into a
procedure manual in spanish and then we'll translate it into english... But
one thing I can tell you... It works!!! It's very good and fast... And you
don't have to retype your users passwords or keep a parallel user database
or having a SAMBA PDC... Just keep your network like it is and install
correctly Winbind on a Linux server and voila, you have sendmail validating
passwords on your PDC...
I'll keep in touch...
