[Samba] Samba PDC and Windows 2000 roaming profiles problem
I have strange problem with Samba PDC and windows 2000 pro (sp3 and sp4) clients. The Samba is acting as PDC and the windows are joined in the domain with roaming profiles to users. Everything works fine until I log out from windows or shutdown the workstation. During logout or shutdown process the roaming profile is unloaded back to Samba server. When I next time log in or start the windows and examine the windows aplication log I found the following: Windows cannot unload your registry file. If you have a roaming profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator. DETAIL - Access is denied. , Build number ((2195)) This happens randomly and when it happens the logout from windows took quite long time. At same time the files under roaming profile aren´t updated. Atleast timestamps in the files are not updated (example NTUSER.DAT). It seems that this happens in Samba versions 2.2.5 and 2.2.7. File permissions are set 1757 at the /home/samba/profiles and the profiles sections in smb.conf is following: [profiles] path = /home/samba/profiles browseable = no read only = no create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 Pete _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. [Samba] Samba PDC and Windows 2000 roaming profiles problem
Nice to no that I´m not the only one with this problem. I haven´t got any time to test this since last friday but tomorrow I will continue with this case. You mentioned that this problem wanishes if the print spooler is restarted regular intervals. Did you mean the Linux printing daemon or something else? How does it effect if the printer section is left out complety? Could you send the UHPClean to my other address: werrew74@sunpoint.net because this box capacity is very small and it fills out so rapidly at least after I joiden to samba mailing list. Times are synchronised between Linux and those w2k workstations with help of: time server = yes in the smb.conf file and the netlogon.bat holds in the "net time \myPDC /set /yes" statement which is handled just right. Has anybody experienced that is this still a problem with Samba 3.x versions?
