Hi all, I'd like to replace an old NT-wins server by a linux box with samba and I'm wondering how long it will take for the wins-table on the linux machine to get filled up from scatch (the size of the net is of order 1000 machines). Does anyone have *real-life* data/experiences of such a migration ? Any tipps or hints ? Is there a way/tool to convert the (Windows) Wins-DB into the wins.dat format ? Regards, Thore

[Samba] Experiences with WINS-Migration NT -> Samba ?
If you reboot all the systems after pointing them to the new WINS server, or after you replace the old one if the new one will have the old IP Address, it should be as soon as the machines boot. They will update the WINS server at that time. From: Thore Herberg <thore.herberg@med.uni-goettingen.de> Precedence: list Subject: [Samba] Experiences with WINS-Migration NT -> Samba ?
