samba - May 2002 - Do machine accounts have to be group 100

I have got samba 2.2.3 running, acting as a PDC for my domain of Win2k
workstations.
The adduser script is working and I can join machines to the domain 'on the
fly'

My question is; what are the implications of changing the group id of the
workstation machine accounts to a value other than 100?

None.  Only the uid is ever consulted.  (I think the gid might get
looked at, but nobody cares about it's value.)
