First of all, sorry for such a basic request... My samba server is acting as a wins server, and is also domain logon for the domain "dom". He is the local and domain master browser on its subnet and for its domain. Right, nothing wrong with it. it works great. My problem: I would like to add a host named "kakou" (on my workgroup "dom"). When i simply add it in the lmhosts file, and asks samba via # nmblookup -U 127.1 -R 'foo' it answers me querying kakou on 172.30.192.247 Sending a packet of len 50 to (172.30.192.247) on port 137 read_udp_socket: lastip 172.30.192.247 lastport 137 read: 56 parse_nmb: packet id = 19760 Received a packet of len 56 from (172.30.192.247) port 137 nmb packet from 172.30.192.247(137) header: id=19760 opcode=Query(0) response=Ye s header: flags: bcast=No rec_avail=Yes rec_des=Yes trunc=No auth=Yes header: rcode=3 qdcount=0 ancount=1 nscount=0 arcount=0 answers: nmb_name=KAKOU<00> rr_type=32 rr_class=1 ttl=0 Negative name query response, rcode 0x03: The name requested does not exist. name_query failed to find name kakou. In other words, nmbd seemed to never seek my lmhosts file... I've also tried various syntax in the lmhosts file without any success... What have i missed? Thanks for any tips, kind regards Paul PS: All the "ip" aspects of the network is ok!
