[Samba] Windows XP & 2K file properties reports 0 used space on the mapped drive
Hello, all, My first time posting here but I've read a lot of old messages. I've also searched the web and samba docs and did not find anything helping me. The problem I have is that after mapping a drive from Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 server, the file property of the drive says I have used 0 bytes on the drive, which is totally not true. The total disk space is correct. However, mapping the same share from Win98 works fine. My server is Samba 2.2.3a, installed on FreeBSD 4.5 (stable). I also tried install on FreeBSD 5.0 and have the same problem. Using "dfree command" doesn't change the results. I tried using "debug level =20", which produced a lot of files of network packages I can't read. The info in the log file doesn't help either. I also tried using "network monitor" on Win2K but did not get a clue from the results. (One thing from network monitor on Win2k: it appears that Win2k is trying to create a file \Desktop.ini on the share and failed.) So please give me a hint of what is wrong. I am suspecting that it's the communication between the server and client, but it is not listed as a known bug. -Chere My config is as following:
