Re.
i configure Samba on Redhat Linux 7.1 with other
machines of windows NT 4.0. In that situation
everything working fine.
Then i added one win 2000 Professional Machine in
the network.then also its working fine. But from Last
two - three days its giving problem. Although all
other windows NT machines working fine with Samba, but
win 2000 Professional is giving error that machine
unreachable. although its pinging to that machine.
Is there additional setting for this? since t's
running fine i assume that much settings is ok.
Pl. reply,
Regards,
Pralay

[Samba] Problem of Samba with win2000 Professional
Do you have a dns server in your domain? If not, set one up. If so, is
it hosted on a windows or linux machine? If you don't have one, you are
going to need to set one up, if you do have one, do the samba servers
have entries in the DNS records? If not, add them.
Windows2000 doesn't give a rat's ass about WINS anymore, it's all
about
the DNS now.
