My current set-up :- I have a Samba 2.2.2 server running on Solaris 2.6. This server is set-up to use unencrypted plain text passwords. I have just created a test server running Samba 2.2.2 on Mandrake Linux 6.0 to try and test it with encrypted passwords. There are also a number of NT domains on the same network and connected via the WAN. The problem I have is that when I start the test server of the Linux box NT machines start connecting to the IPC$ share. These same machines do not connect to the Samba server running on the Solaris machine. The only real difference is that the Linux machine uses encrypted passwords and the Solaris one does not. Is this normal behaviour? Will my Samba server with encrypted passwords interfere with the NT domains? Why are the NT machines connecting to my IPC$? Any help would be gratefully accepted.
