Hi I have a Samba 2.2.2 server running under RH7.1 in a small network with an NT4 PDC and a few NT4/Win2000 workstations. I'd like to pension off the NT4 server and configure the Samba box as a PDC. I've been working through the latest PDC howto and have managed to remove a test workstation from the NT4 domain and join the Samba domain. Given that we're using only local user profiles, is it possible to somehow carry over each machine's local profiles. At the moment, when the new domain is joined, a new profile is created, meaning that everyone's settings are lost on each machine. Ideally, what I'd like to do is tell the workstations that the new PDC is the Samba box and keep everything else as is, accepting that the shares will need changing. Is this possible? One avenue I was exploring is using pwdump to extract the machine accounts from the NT4 PDC, then inserting them into smbpasswd (with the necessary changes to /etc/passwd and etc/shadow). However, this didn't work (server netbios names in hash?). Can anyone advise a way forward on this? Thanks Tim Allen
