Replacing NT4 PDC with Samba 2.2.2
Hi
Haven't seen any responses to my earlier post (Transferring PDC duties to
Samba) so here's a slightly different approach I'm trying which someone can
hopefully shed some light on.
Is it possible to transfer domain-specific data from an NT4 PDC to a Samba
2.2.2 server, switch off the NT4 machine, set up smb.conf, switch on the
Samba box such that the attached NT4/Win2000

I am currently trying to transpose some large panel data set ie transposing multiple rows in into a single column. instead the transpose functionality transposes all rows into columns. my sample data set looks like below:

Samba 3.0 and LDAP as a PDC
Hello all,
I hope this is an easy one, I've read all the howtos but I'm still very hazy
on how to do this. What I want to do is replace my NT4 PDC with a Samba 3.0
PDC with an LDAP backend.
I've got my OpenLDAP up and running with the basic People, Computers and
Groups ou's.
I've put the builtin NT groups in too.
I have Samba 3.0 functioning as a BDC

Sync NT to Linux pwdump/nt-groups
Hi,
Is there a way in which i can run pwdump on Linux (without dosemu or
wine).
I have a cron
job on NT which runs rdist /S to generate the Sam backup in the Repair
folder. I Then copy this file to Linux. I need to run pwdump now and
get the userid's. I also need to extract the group information.
I dont think pwdump extracts that. Is there some way i can get this
info too.

Transparent migration of users to a samba PDC, how about cygwin tool ?
Hi,
I would like to migrate from NT PDC to a Samba PDC.
My main concern is that all my users have local profile (i.e. there is
no roaming profiles). It seems that users profiles on a workstation are
not valide when migrating to the Samba PDC. It seams that the users
cannot keep the same identity. On the other hand, I would really like
to change PDC without users noticing anything.

pwdump on german NT
Hi,
I had trouble getting the pwdump program to work correctly on a german
version of NT4SP3.
I believe the problem is based on the fact that the german group
'Administrators' is called 'Administratoren', and Administrators is
hard-coded into the utility. Would it be possible to make that an optional
parameter?
Unfortunately, I have no access to a C-Compiler on an NT-station, so

[PATCH] Janitor duties
This patch removes a lot of #include from files in openbsd-compat/ since
"includes.h" is included prior to the others and therefore includes the
headers first.
Is it OK, or is it a design decision to have the includes specific to
the c-files in the c-files as well?
There is also the correction of an error. In
openbsd-compat/readpassphrase.c there was
#ifndef HAVE_READPASSPHRASE

Migrating WINNT to SAMBA PDC
Hello Everyone,
I have read all the man pages and the "HOW-TO-PDC..." related to the
operation and configuration of SAMBA. I don't however, see anything
detailing a move away from WinNT to SAMBA PDC. Can someone point me to a
doc or website that has helped them migrate as smooth as possible? I heard
there is a way of grabbing passwords using pwdump, users uid, and the Domain
ID.

Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving
That doesn't help my version of the problem, though. My create mask is 701,
but Photoshop is creating files with permissions 777.

machine group and pwdump.exe
Hi,
1. I want to migrate NT to Samba 3 domain without needing to rejoin all machine (using same domain name and SID). just curious, machine account should belong to what group sid? does it matter if belong to any value?
2. I just examine output of pwdump, some of member domain or even NT BDC is has "*****" in password field which means this account was disabled.
I've verified that

pwdump for ASU (Advanced Server for Unix) needed!
Hi,
We are migrating from Unix Server to Linux, so the ASU (Advanced Server for
Unix) will be replaced by Samba. The pwdump for Nt is pretty for Windows NT,
but I don't know if there is an Unix dump tool to transfer the ASU SAM
database to the Samba's smbpasswd file. Any help is welcomed!
Thanks in advance,

samba 32/64 bit locking error
On Nov. 5, Juergen Bock wrote (in a message titled
"32/64bit locking problem with 2.2.2") that he was seeing
a 32/64bit locking error in his logs.
I have also seen this problem. I have a little more information
that indicates that this behavior started after samba version
2.2.0a.
Here are the samba versions I have tested:

"credentials check wrong" only with Windows NT4 Clients
Hi,
we tried to migrate an NT4 Domain to Samba3.0.4. We took the easy aproach and
started to dump the NT PW Database with "pwdump" and the groups with
"addusers" which were used to build the initial LDAP DB for the Samba Server.
The SID was set and the Samba PDC was started as a replacement for the NT
one.
Loggin on to the Domain with Windows 200x and XP machines works

NT PDC to Samba PDC migration
Hi all,
I read a few posts a while back from people who were trying to get this
done.
Has anyone succeeded in doing a transparent (or an
as-close-to-as-possible) migration of an NT4 PDC to a Samba PDC?
I know it entails stuff like snatching the passwords with pwdump or the
like, and importing them into smbpasswd/LDAP, and toying around with
RID's/SID's for the new PDC to make it look

PDC to LDAP migration
I'm migrating a NT4 PDC over to a Samba OpenLDAP PDC. I've migrated the
user and computer accounts fine. I using pwdump and the tools from
http://samba.idealx.org/, to do this.
But I'm at a lose with migration of groups from NT4 PDC over to the Samba
LDAP PDC. I've heard it's possible with rpcclient. Any information on how
to do this would be appreciated.

Migrating PDC from NT to Samba
On a small Intranet (9 fixed client + some notebooks) we have decided to
switch the PDC over a more reliable Linux server, actually running Samba
2.2.5 + OpenLDAP 2.0.25.
To restructure the scenario, I've found very useful IDEALX's tools and
pwdump. All the users and machines accounts were succesfully migrated into
LDAP without any particular problem, and this was so far easy to do.

migrate Windows Active Directory Users to Samba+LDAP
reetings,
Greetings,
Can anyone help me find out how to migrate Active Directory users to
Samba+LDAP? I have everything working: Samba+LDAP+Kerberos PDC in Debian
and I also have a Windows Active Directory in production with more than
100 users added. I just want to transfer all the AD users to de PDC in
Debian. I tried using pwdump to extract AD users but with no positive
results. Please
