First off all, sorry for my poor english. My name is Daniel, and I work for a company that is changing from Novel to Linux. Until today all had worked fine, but I found a littel problem: [root@eduteclinux /root]# lpq 2 root@eduteclinux+437 A 437 smbprn.XXXX ... It would be all ok, but my boss asked me to change the smbprn.XXX to the original filename, like mydoc.prn. Here is my print command: print command = /usr/bin/lpr -r -P%p %s Samba version is 2.2.1a Thanks to all, Daniel William.
All, I have not seen a follow-up to this post. I, too, find this silly and annoying. If anyone has managed to solve this problem, can she please enlighten the rest of us? If the problem is fundamental to Samba, could one of the developers please tell us how fundamental it really is, and if there is any hope of this ever beeing fixed? Thanks! Hi all! As I asked about this problem and received just one answer ( that do not solved this problem... ) I decided to look around and find any solution. I went to google ( www.google.com ) and started a search for "smbprn"... And some results appear on the screen :) Now, when I use lpq, appears as this name-of-file.doc, or name-of-file.lwp So, for the company, the problem was solved :))))) Everyone logs on putty ( ssh! ) and get access to spool :) Here is the link to the solution: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lprng/message/8232 Here is my printer command: print command = lpr -r -P%p -J '%J' %s Thanks, Daniel William.
