We're running a server with Samba2.2.1a on RH7.1, kernel 2.4.2, with linux clients of the same configuration, and also some win98. Record locking works fine for the win98 clients, but not for the linux clients. I have run ethereal to try to see what's happening. The win98 clients send an SMBLock request and the server responds with an SMBLock reply, however this doesn't occur for Linux clients. Is SMBLock supported for Linux clients ? Ray Nixon

If smbfs, then no. There are experimental kernel patches for adding locking to smbfs, but I can't recommend them now (as I don't even use them myself). /Urban
